lap-band

Here is a short update to those who wanted to know about the lap-band for losing weight.  I just got my on-on the 4th of June.  It was one night stay in the hospital.  I have been on a liquid diet for two weeks now.  One before the surgery and one after.  It is hard but not impossible.  I have lost a wopping 18 pounds!!  The recovery is going really fast.  Just after a few days I was out with my husband doing a little shopping and riding in the car for a long while.  It really doesn't hurt too much.  I am now on phase 2 of my diet.  It is soft food such as baby food, yogurt, pudding and stuff like that.  Hope I lose another 10 pounds in the weeks ahead on this phase of the diet.  I hope to write more as more of my weight fall off.  And if anyone is considering the band or has already got theirs, I wold love to hear from you.

I have been considering this surgery for quite some time.  How much weight are you wanting to lose?  I need to lose about 55 pounds.  What are the chances of gaining the weight back?   I am tired of yo-yo dieting and spending thousands of dollars on weight loss programs that work at the beginning but I end up gaining back all the weight plus more.  Don't want to get gastric bypass - I think it is too risky.  Lap belt sounds better since, from what I have read, the band can be altered (loosened/tightened) and also removed if needed.  Also I think it is less invasive.

I hope you are continuing to do well.  Would like a response if you are able.  How long is the recovery period?
