About Me
Hi,
I'm a 35 year old housewife and mother of two wonderful childern,Tristan and Destiny. My husband is a long haul truck driver who spends about 300 days a year on the road.We have benn together now right at fifteen years and married for twelve years. He is the love of my life and he has given me these two wonderful children to complete our circle. We live in Norrth Carolina where the seasons change so beautifully every three to four months.Right now we are getting ready to enter the winter time of year inwhich I truly love.I think as I've grown older I have come to appreciate winter more and more.As you know I have two children one a boy,Tristan and the other a girl,Destiny.Well we live with tourette syndrome,my son Tristan was dianosed with tourette syndrome in Feduary of 2007.Right now we are still tring to figure it all out there are so many asspects to this disorder.Tristan is such a wonderful child but is so often judged by the noises he makes or the movements he can't control.I have had to defend him on so many occasions because people are just not very aware of such a disorder.I hope that maybe the doctores will have a show on this disorder,I do know that several months ago CNN did a show on the disorder but I wasn't very inpressed with it.Only because they only show the most aggressive side of tourettes,I would like to see a show with a child who is as normal as my son being like interviewed so that people can see that these children are very intellegent and bright they just have this crazy thing going on with there movement and noises.Tristan has complex tics which include everything I've noticed. He has the verble tics and the involentary movements with his different body parts,He also has the verble cursing which has became very embarrising in certain places.School has been nothing more than a challenge since he started pre k.Anyway I now this area is suppost to be about me and quite frankly it is because all I am is about my children.Since my husband has been driving a truck the kids and i rely on each other, and we raelly make for a great team.Anyway there ya go thats me and us.Have a blessed day.

Hi,
Sorry it's been so long since I wrote. I've added to my blog to explain. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Hi Tammy,
I forgot to tell you about the back problem. I don't know what section of your back is giving you pain. Mine is in my lower back as I've written. I have had numbing shots which worked for 1/2 a day, then traction, chiropractic, massage therapy, then surgery to numb the nerves. None have worked. However due to the severe pain over so many years the Spine Center found that my muscles on the right side have shrunk, which makes the pain much worse that it should be. Also since I had a migraine for 2 solid months, and was flat on my back just made the muscle problem worse. Since I have been going for the spine therapy the pain has eased a bit, and they said they could get me to about 70% of what I used to be. If that's true I will let you know. The therapist is very good and understanding. The Spine Center is in Winston-Salem near the VA Clinic. If you have access to it, they might help. But I will let you know how it goes with me.

Hi Tammypoos,
I'm sorry that some people just "don't get it" when it comes to your son. I have seen so many children with all different problems while helping my teacher daughter at her school. Right now she has 2 diabetic children in her class, and one has to have a full time nurse with him. One time she had a class with 1/3 of them on Ritalin. She has not yet had a child with tourett syndrome, but if she did I know she would be very compassionate and understanding. She has had children as young as 8 and 9 who's mothers were prostitutes or drug addicts, and a couple who were raped. It's so sad what children have to endure when it should be the happiest time of their lives.
But I wonder if any of us really leave childhood without scars of some sort?
You sound like a wonderful mom. Just hang in there and keep supporting and fighting for him. In what area of NC do you live?
God Bless.

Hi Michele
I just wanted to say thank you so much. It's realieving for me to see that someone else out there now knows something about what I'm going through.I know I'm not the only one it's just that when you have on-one to talk to about these things you feel so alone .Anyway thanks a bunch and god bless you.
Hi my name is Michele (SleepTech) I don't know anything about TS other than what I saw on the show. My mother sent me an email of a doctor that helped a friend of hers, I have Lupus, or something like it. Anyway there is a section on this doctors website for comments from his patients and there is one of a child with TS that had his symptoms go away after treatment. I just thought I'd give you the website. Maybe it will lead to help for your son? www.trinityhealingcenter.com If this helps let me know.
I sure would like to meet some people who might be aware of tourette syndrome.I know this is a very hard thing for us parents to talk about when it concerns our children but I really need this not just for me but for Tristan aswell because he feels very singled out as if hes the only one in the world who has to deal with this all alone at ten years old.We have looked for support groups, but can't seem to find any in our area so if you have or know someone with TS please contact me I'd love to speak with you. Thanks Alot
