17 day diet, day 1

I'm unsure if I'm really gonna blog about this up here - but I'll at least start and see what happens.

My name is Ali, I'm from North Carolina.  I am a Registered Nurse (MSN), and I love my job. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have a 1 1/2 year old son that is our miracle baby.  After years of infertility and then 3 miscarriages, he stuck with us!  I have anovulary PCOS, which means that I PCOS so bad that my ovaries do not work and I do not ovulate.  I am also clomid resistant, so I do not respond to clomid - that's how bad my PCOS is.  I'm sure alot of it is due to my weight issues.  Although I've had PCOS my whole life and I *used* to be thin, but of course that was back before nursing school.  I gained 30 lbs in nursing school, another 18 lbs from infertility drugs (which included steriods), and then another 20 lbs of baby weight that I still haven't got off.  So, I've got about 60 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight of 150 lbs.  I'm currently at 208.8 lbs.

So, my mom introduced the 17 day diet to me after she did it and did well on it.  I looked at it a few months ago, tried it out for a week and lost 6 lbs.  Then I started a new job and it all went out the window.  So, here I sit 6 months later, still fluffy.  I'm starting to get the question about when are we going to have another child...which is out of the question until I lose some weight.  I don't know if there are strong enough drugs at this point! lol  But, we do want to try again in about a year or so, and I'd like for my body to be in the best possible place for the drugs to work.  It would also be really nice to feel sexy again, which let me tell you - have not felt that way in YEARS!  And I'm only 28!  So, I'd like to finish out my 20s and start my 30s looking fabulous and hopefully being able to have another successful pregnancy at some point.  AND also just because I'm just not healthy.  I would really like to live longer so it's time to get my booty into gear!  And I'm not waiting around for new years...Today is Day 1.

That's me and that's why I'm doing this.

WOW I just read this post. I want to say I admire you for your dedication to get the weight off. I myself am on a diet. Not the 17 day diet, I could not afford that. So i am doing it the, some say, not so healthy way. But it is working for me. And I am at 193 pounds. I was at 249 in March of last year. So this is a new year for a new me. I still have 63 pounds to go before I reach my goal weight. I had stopped before Halloween and just started back 4 days ago. this is my day 5 on my diet. After my 2 loading days I was up to 200 again. so on day 2 I was at 200 pounds.  I want to wish you the best of luck on losing your weight. Hang in there and stick with it. Best wishes.

Ali. You should view yourself as an inspiration. I too suffer from PCOS, although not as severe. This is my second attempt but I'm ready to do this. I have 30Ibs to lose and cant wait to see how this diet works wonders. If you need motivation and a partner I dont mind. Good Luck.

Hi there. I just sent you a friends request. My first day on the 17 day diet was yesterday also. I went to the website and saw the before and after pictures and was sold on it from that moment on. 17 days in the grand sceme of things, is attainable. When I imagine I have almost 100 pounds to loose, it seems impossible. But I can do 17 days. And so can you! :O)

Hi Swifta,  I'm a returning 17-Day dieter........I can promise you if you stick to it, you will see rapid weight loss.  I'm usually a very slow user and I had lost 10 lbs on cycle 1 last year, and that was without drinking the green tea nor did I exercise (my bad!!)  However, I did blog a lot and it really helps.  Cycle 2 and 3 is not as rapid as Cycle 1....but some of the bloggers weight loss numbers were incredible!!!  Stick with it and try to blog!  I'm so happy to be back on board.  I'm on Day 4 of Cycle 1 and I love it!  If you're not going to blog on a regular basis, at least check in and let us know how you are doing!  Best of luck to you!!!
