Ovarian Cancer

I know someone that is very special to me that has ovarian cancer. She has been taking these herbals instead of chemo. Well her bad cell count went up and she is wanting some feed back on what to do. Doctors say she needs to do chemo, and we think they say that just to get the money. She did do chemo a couple years ago and was real sick and was in lots of pain. She did get through it, but dont want to go through it again and wants an alternative or if anyone that is going through ovarian cancer and could give some suggestions what she could do instead of chemo or any comment please leave do so. Thank you.

Oh boy....Ovarian Cancer is something that needs to be respected.  It is deadly.  Chemo does make us sick before we get better.  I would like more information on what stage she was diagnosed in and a little bit more information on her circumstances.  I have been living with Ovarian Cancer for 9 years in December.  I have had a recurrence.  I do understand what chemo does to a person and the drugs used in fighting Ovarian Cancer are harsh.    Because Ovarian Cancer is a deadly cancer that we can beat, I can't believe that doctors are out for the money.  I know we live in a world of doubt and distrust, but this is her life she's fighting for and she has a big fight on her hands. She may want to do research on Amerian Cancer Society or Cancer Treatment Centers of America sites before she makes a decision and Ovarian Cancer spreads rapidly.  My best to her but we need her to fight this disease, she can contact me if she wishes. Diana

Sherman, read Diana's blogs.  She is a great writer and she has sincerely been through it.  My mother in llaw died of colon cancer.  The dr. wanted to do chemo, but it was too late.  My sister had breast cancer and she was saved with chemo.  I would suggest she take the chemo, it is a better bet than trying something unproven and which has not worked in the past.  Good luck. I don't want to recommend not doing chemo, but know that the Bone and Cancer Foundation recommends that all cancer patients get tested for vitamin D deficiency (http://www.boneandcancerfoundation.org/pdfs/Vitamin_D_Booklet.pdf) as most cancer patients are D deficient.  The only research I have read so far about vitamin D and cancer has been on the significant preventative effects of vitamin D against cancer in that it can turn cancer cells into healthy cells or cause the cancer cells to die.  I do not know about actually turning malignant tumors around, but the Bone and Cancer Foundation states in the pdf above that all cancer patients can benefit from resolving a vitamin D deficiency: "Cancer patients who are vitamin D deficient can experience muscle and bone discomfort and fatigue. These symptoms may also be caused by radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or the cancer itself. Vitamin D deficiency can also cause nonspecific aches and pains in the bones and muscles as well as feelings of weakness."  Maybe this will at least help your friend and give her more strength.  I was vitamin D deficient at a level of 17 ng/ml.  Normal range is 30-100 ng/ml.  I am now following the latest recommendations and am now maintaining a blood level of 80 ng/ml.  I would recommend the same for your friend. Toxicity starts at 200 ng/ml (some say it starts at 150 ng/ml). Take care. Larissa

Sorry to hear that your friend is going through all of this. Cancer is so evil. My dad has had bladder cancer, colon cancer and skin cancer and has fought them all. He has helped many of his friends fight the battle and he is a firm believer of the herbal remedies as well, although he, personally, used radiation treatment for his bladder cancer. If the herbal remedies aren't helping, she might have to do the chemo to save her life, although it does seem to have some aweful side affects (making people sick). She can do a few things to HELP go through this though:

My dad told me that a cancer patient should do 1000mg of Vitamin C a day...drink lots of water and stay hydrated. And eating right is always key (stay away from the red meats), as well as doing 2 juice drinks a day. He still continues these juice drinks daily and has been cancer free for 2 years now. Your friend can get a Mr.Juicer (from Walmart...they're fairly cheap) and to make the drink it's:

2 whole carrots (skin and all!)

2 celery stick

1 Apple (seeds and all)

1 Pear

I hope this helps your friend! She's in my prayers.
