Ok so I have seen previews for the show coming up about how autism and vaccines are related. I am a college student majoring in nursing, and recently I had to write a 6 page report on a topic, I chose vaccines. When I was research this I found that studies done have not foud that vaccines in general cause autism. There is a genetic disorder that can cause autism to occur in a patient that was given a vaccine. The disorder is called mitochondrial disorder. They think people with this disorder have a allergic reaction to the mercury in the vaccine. Therefore if you do not have this disorder you should be fine getting a vaccine. Another reason you should get vaccines is because if we keep up with taking them we could cause a disease to go extinct. This will make it possible for future generations to not have to worry about deading diseases and having to get so many vaccines hopefully.

Dear Scable, If I am not mistaken, they have removed the mercury from all vaccines. And I agree, we don't need an outbreak of some dread disease. let's eliminate them completely. Bobbie
Hi. I am a mother with a child who is 10 years old and has Asperger's Syndrome and Persuasive Developmental Disorder NOS and I do not believe that the vaccines caused my child to have this disorder. I feel comfortable with the vaccines. I will however keep and eye on him for any side affects that come with them. I know that Autism is a neurological disorder in the brain or something close to that matter. I feel that I am the one who caused my son to have Autism because he was stuck in the birth canal for so long. Anyways, I don't think we should take the vaccines away, we need to make sure our children do not get a disease that we can not cure them from.
Thank you for this blog. This subject seems to be getting alot of attention lately. The benefits of vaccines far outweigh the risks. We need more young parents advocating for vaccines.
I'm a retired nurse and cared for a teenager who did not get the polio vaccine and contracted polio and WAS in an iron lung. Young parents seem to have no idea what kind of disease the vaccines prevent.
