To add to the transfat situation, if you read the label of your I can't believe it's not butter, there are a bunch of chemicals and perservative and other crap in there. When you see things like Natural and artificial flavours, there are hundreds of bad chemicals that can be put in the product under that name, eg. MSG. Also all those names you cannot pernounce, are usually stuff that is not going to help you body in any way. Part of the problem so many people have weight issues is because of all the additives, perservatives, and addicting agents, that these companies put in the food. Along with all the toxic chemicals and pollutants in our environment that get into our bodies all end up putting un-needed stress on our bodies. Some of these things disrupt hormones, nutrient uptake, and just basic physiological processes our body's cells do to keep our bodies in perfect balance. And I'm sure you have heard the doctors say many times to just limit processed food and eat your fruits, veggies, meats, and dairy.
Next time you shop look at the ingredient list on a stick of real butter. There is usually going to be just two things, 1. cream, and 2. salt. Real food. your body knows what it is and how to use it.
I had to do this in two parts because it was too long. sorry.
I can't believe it's not butter is pretty much the same thing as margarine. Yes it is lower in calories than butter and some margarines but health wise it is garbage. If you read the ingredients you will notice that there is hydrogenated and or partially haydrogenated oils in it. That means there is TRANSFAT in it. Now I know they probably have 0 transfat plastered all over the label. This is because a product only has to have 0.5g per serving or less of transfat to be able to label their product 0 transfat, transfat free, or No transfat, when in fact there is. So when the regulations came in a few years ago about how much transfat can be in products, what all these corportations who use hydrogenated oil (chips, margarine, fried foods etc.) did was instead of changing how they make the product they just made the serving size on the label smaller so that there seems to be less transfat PER serving and they can now advertise that their product is transfat free. For example, if a bag of chips has 1g of transfat per seving and 1 serving equals 30 chips, that product has to label that there is transfat in it. Now it the same company takes the same bag a chips and changes the serving size to 15 chips that product now only has 0.5g of transfat per serving and can plaster TRANSFAT free, No transfat, 0 transfat, all over their label. This is why it is so important to read lables, and or stay away from processed foods. Like Jillian Michaels said on the show, "Don't eat anything that doesn't grow in the ground, or have a mother." Processed food is Poison literally.
