So here I am. But who am I? I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, but who am I really? I am unhappy, overweight and tired. I know there is a REAL person inside of all this somewhere. This is my journey to find her.
My name is Rachel. I am 36 yrs old. I have been married to my husband for 12 yrs and we have 2 little boys. I have been blessed to be able to work at home and be a stay at home mom with my boys for the past 5 years. However, this has lead me to some very bad habits nutritionally and physically. I have about 100 lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight and I'm starting now. It may take more than a year, it may take more than 2 yrs, but I will get there.

I THINK IT IS GOOD THAT YOU ARE ONLY 36 AND READY TO TAKE YOUR JOURNEY. I AM 53, AND THE "UNHAPPY, OVERWEIGHT, AND TIRED" ARE WORDS I'VE SAD ABOUT MYSELF FOR TOOOOO MANY YEARS. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO LOSE ABOUT 120 POUNDS, SHOULD PROBABLY LOSE ABOUT 140, BUT WOULD BE HAPPY WITH EACH 20 POUNDS I DO LOSE. HAHA I WISH YOU GREAT RESULTS. PKOWILLDO
I can totally relate to what you've posted! Good for you for taking this step to join -- we can all support each other as we journey through rediscovering who the heck we are under all this extra weight. Congrats on joing and good luck to you! Let's keep in touch.
I understand completely. Good Luck!
I think you are really on the ball at 36 and already to go on the journey. I know how you feel and it isn't pretty. I started @ weighing 217 and now I am 181 pounds. I owe it to my Mom, Virginia, the 12 steps, and most of all the Lord!!! Good luck to you on your recovery.
I am still overweight but I am greatful that I've lost what I have: 36 pounds. I hope to lose more like another 40 pounds before I'm done. I've been dropping weight rather fast and I wonder if there is going to be a problem later on. Many many blessings to you on losing your weight. I'm very sure you are going to lose all you can plus a few extra for snackx. The way I lose weight is by eating my vegetables and fruits plus a few snacks, hope fully one at a time.
Hi Rachel,
I am also in the same situation as you. We have a couple things in common! How much weight to lose and having two boys. I just ordered the 17 day challenge book as well and was also wondering what to get at the grocery store tomorrow. I am just learning how to navigate around on this page and I'm still a little confused. I wanted to join the Dr Phil team but wasn't sure if I did it right. Any help would be appreciated. I wish you well and if you get any help on foods to buy, let me know!!
Hello Rachel! I would like to take this journey with you...My name is Shawna and I, too, have been a stay at home Mom for a couple of years now...I am ready for my life to change now.
You sound so much like I did when I was your age. Now, I am almost 53, still over weight. I have always struggled with my weight. At times I loose weight, look great and feel great!
I watched Dr. Oz yesterday and learned about meditation. Sounds funny, but it made sense. He asked us to close our eyes for 5 minuets, relax our hands and arms. And asked ourselves, 'who am I?' 'Am I happy? 'what is my purpose?' He let us know we didn't have to know the answers, but just ask ourselves.
I always knew, that I was a daughter, mother and wife. I always did what was expected of me to do, things I had to do. I became very unhappy. One day when I was about 50 a friend suggested that I do something for myself...even if it's just one thing! Find that one thing that's just for you, that makes you happy and do it! I had to think back to when I was younger and before becoming what was expected of me I loved art, photography and nature. I still do, I just had to unearth them out from under other's expectations, today I still struggle with my weight, but I am much happier. I took my friends suggestion and do something for me, that makes me happy and content with the world around me.
