I just wanted to wish "The Doctors" and web site members a very Happy New Year! The show seems to be very successful! Thanks to Dr. Phil for starting such a cool show.
I recently lost my health benefits, which has been a total disaster. I have a lot of health and psychiatric problems. Insurance-wise I have gone to the bottom of the pile. It has been a very humbling and humiliating experience. I was very sick a week ago and went to various urgent care facilities. The first one wanted $125.00 to be seen. I finally found a kindly doctor who saw me for $40.00! He is trying to start his own insurance...it's a retainer-fee system.
Maybe a show would be helpful to focus on people without health insurance!! It is a big, huge problem. Especially with all the lay-offs, unemployment and the horrible economic system. Thwre are people who have insurance who still can't afford to go to the doctor because of co-pays and deductibles.
Also, maybe you can work with President-elect Barack Obama. The Americans are screaming for improved health care!

Can you go to your state for help?Also some clinics go on a sliding scale to pay.I wish you the best!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for responding. I am a patient with the county. It has taken 2 months to get an ap't. The clinic is only open 3 days a week. No urgent care services. My only option is to drive, in pain, to the County Hospital which is an hour away.

I have been where you are, as far as not having health insurance. It is a scary experience; for myself that was the time that most of my medical disasters occured. There are some people that do not understand what it is like to not have insurance, and they are quick to say "just go to the doctor," but as we know paying out of pocket for medical care is very frightening. My prayers are with you and anyone else going through life without health benefits.
I agree that there should be a show for people without health insurance or some type of advice on herbal remedies, things that can be done at home to relief the suffering.
