My 2 year old grandson seems to have a sore penis &/or testicle area. He will not let anyone get close to it without screaming; he holds his knees together & protects that area with his hands. We cannot see any redness or swelling, but the testicles do seem to be rather firmer than usual.
The doctors office said if there is no redness, swelling, or discharge & if he is urinating, then not to worry, but that is hard to do when he is in so much pain.
Any help very much appreciated.

Any chance of sexual abuse??
I certainly hope I am 100% correct when I say, there is no chance. The parents are very christian, church going people & the mother is the assistant director at the daycare where her children go; but that is a question that worries all of us at times. Is there an instance or case in which you have heard of this type of soreness from such?
His Dad did take him to the Dr & they found a small trace of blood in his urine, so put him on antibiotics - can't tell yet if that will make a difference.
Thanks so much for your concern.
I guess it comes to my mind because of past employment with a Rape Crisis Center. About half of our Code Rs were at the local children's hospital. Hopefully, my question is way off the mark. When there are such issues, frequently an older child or a trusted adult is the perpetrator. Sadly, it happens even in the best families. It happened in mine. It might be worth gently asking him if anyone has touched him in ways that make him sad, or cause him to hurt, or in areas that would be covered by his underpants. He sounds pretty protective. Truly, I hope I am way off the mark, but the questions should be asked.
