About Me
Most importantly, I am a mother, stepmother and grandmother. My son is 19 and my former stepdaughter and I are still close even though her father and I are divorced. I am still Grandma to her kids :) I am 46 and my disability is cerebral palsy. I became very sick at 14 months old and the diagnoses was CP due to the braindamage. Before I got pregnant in "91 I used crutches full time then for safety reasons I went to the scooter and have been using it eversince. Because of the use of the crutches for all those years before I got pregnant I developed shoulder problems that required surgery. So now my walking is limmited. I know I need to lose about 30 pounds but it has been very dificult. There is no help for people with disabilities who want to lose weight. I am on social security at the momment till I start working again. Then i will lose the medicaid so I am really torn on working or not. I maxed out pt after i had surgery but I feel that PT should be a life long preventive/wellness needed service so I can stay active and indipendent. I can not afford a personal trainer or a regular gym membership. Luckily I do semi work out at the same place where I had PT after the surgery. But there are just some things I can not do on my own in my workouts due to the shoulder. I do not want my condition to get worse where I can not function "normaly" and have to go into an assistant living or group homes. I am just frustrated. I want to get this weight off and get stronger but there just is not anything out there that want to help disabled adults.
