Within the last week I have called a close friend who's an RN, a cousin who's an LPN and my best friend who is a sex therapist about the unprovoked, sudden, pulsating, twitching, orgasmic/ arousal feeling that I have been experiencing.
I have always had slight feelings like this and by process of elimination I would conclude whether or not I was actually aroused by something or if I just had to urinate. Now I'll be honest and say that I have a high sex drive, high testosterone level but since I was 25, I had to always figure out which was which.
Now, I'm 29 and last week these feelings hit me harder and more frequent than normal, well normal for me. I was sitting at the computer and the twitching and pulsating started. At first I giggled and thought nothing more of it but it didn't stop so I had sex. After the sex the feeling subsided for a little while but then smaller tremors came, and I ignored them and laid down to take a nap. As soon as I closed my eyes a large one came. I ignored it. I went to work that night, nothing out of the ordinary then all of a sudden while watching the movie Gremlins, it starts again. My face was flush and I was embarrassed. l stood up to walk it off but it's not going anywhere. This lasted for like 5 to 10 minutes and just as abruptly as it came it stop or so I thought. I sat back down and again and again. I didn't have to use the bathroom and I for sure was not aroused.
That's when the first phone call to the RN was made. She had no clue and told me I was lucky. I came home and told my fiance about it and of course there was nothing he could say and that was the first night. The next day same thing but no real big long lasting tremors. Third and fourth day, had small ones and a few big 5 minute ones and I called the LPN. She gave me the same responds as the RN. So I called my best friend who's a sex therapist. She was more procedural then the previous people. She asked me what had I changed in my diet, my soap, what kind of a panties, are my clothes tight, any irritation or trauma to the area? The whole time she's talking to me it's happening in small spurts. 5-10 minutes apart.
The only thing that changed was my soap. She told me to go home and wash with warm water because the soap could be the causing irritant. I did that as soon as I got home and it changed nothing. So today I decided to look this up myself since 3 women who are well educated, fairly open-minded and let's say I know their sexual history as well, could not help me. I researched the soap and it's ingredients, nothing spectacular about sunflower seed oil or cocoa butter. So then I researched the symptoms and found out that I'm not the only one who's going through this. But what causes it and will it ever stop is my concern and is this going to get worse? I've experienced mild forms of this for 4 years but nothing on the level of what I have been experiencing this week. None have even lasted this long or happened this frequent. I texted my friends and let them know that this is something real and that I'm not crazy and may not be so lucky. I don't want to ever have to explain this to people I work with.

Ok, I see a lot of people have read my post but no one has responded. I know I'm not the only woman going through this. Can anyone else share their story or offer some suggestions?
We had a segment on this topic on the October 1, 2008 show. See the SHOW SYNOPSIS for details on the segment. On the RELATED RESOURCES page you will find a link to a support group and the doctor featured on the show.
Although my experience has not been as extream as yours has been latley. I also struggle with the same problem and have since i was a young girl. I am 28 and this past year it has gotten worse for me as well. My husband doesn't mind. lol! but I feel tourtured sometimes! Although I am sorry for what you are going through, it is nice to know I am not alone. I have always thought I was some sort of freak, and just recently my embarressment is less than my desire for answers! So I have been doing more research. I read that antidepressants can help, Am on generic Zoloft right now and i think it might be helping a bit, but not as much as I had hoped. Paxil seemed to kill it, I tried that for a couple of days but had to stop because I couldn't function at all!! It made me soooo tired and lethargic. Also Caffine, and ibuprofin I heard are not good if you have this problem. Hope this little bit of info helps.
