When we were discussing topics for our show, "How to Prepare for Major Health Challenges," we went to ProduceTheDoctors.com to check out YOUR ideas. Community member, TiredRN, suggested we produce a segment about the RIGHT way to prepare for surgery, because she’s continuously shocked by how unprepared surgical patients are on the big day. Well, TiredRN, our doctors agreed with you, so we decided to devote a segment to that very topic!
Be sure to tune in to learn the best ways to get ready for surgery, along with TONS of information about preparing for life's other major health challenges … from childbirth to natural disasters. And, of course, keep sending us your great ideas for the show!

I just had a hysterectomy 11 days ago, They made me nervous when the nurse came in and asked if I knew what they were doing, I said I hope you know what they are doing. I felt very nervous informing the hospital what I was having done, expecially when the doctor had previously had me sign 3 different consent forms so he could do what needed to be done. We over did the paper work. I do think I wasn't very prepared for the post op, I didn't know how painful sitting would be, or if the void from the uterus being gone-- how it would fill back up and I only thought of it when I got horrible cramping when I got home, I just wasn't prepared. I'm learning every day, I do enjoy your show, Diane
