COPD

I have talked with two or three other people who have had the same thing happen to them. We have all been smokers. I have not been for seven years now but am now on 24/7 oxygen with COPD. I seemed to never to have had problems with breathing though until I started to have trouble with my sinuses getting infections and the infections would create pockets of infection above and below my gumlines on my teeth. It got so bad, they had to place tubing in to allow the infection to flow out. Once it cleared they pulled all of my teeth and made a full set of dentures. This of course cured the infection pouches from the sinuses but I then noticed the swallowing of a lot more muccus from my sinuses which ended with me having infection in my lungs and difficulty with breathing. This has happened with several people I have talked to and I am sure the sinuses were aggravated by the smoking to begin with but is this the usual way for COPD to set in or is it just created by cold viruses and pneumonia and such aggravated by smoking.
