Taking the "hospital" out of hospital beds

Posted by TenderCareBeds to Special Features, Jan 22, 2010 10:59am

Many products are focused on patients physical needs and few to the emotional. There may come a time in your life or a loved ones life that you are confined to a hospital bed. The ugly, institutional, depressing look of the hospital bed can wear on a persons well being and outlook and increase the rate of mental deterioration. Up until now, there has been no alternative to the visual appearance of the hospital bed. TenderCare beds is a patented Wooden headboard and foot board that converts the hospital bed into a fine piece of furniture. Returning a sense of normalcy to a difficult situation for your child, loved one or even yourself. TenderCare Beds is committed to making a sick room just another normal room in the home... www.tendercarebeds.com

This is one of the most wonderful products I have ever seen. For anyone who has ever had a loved one confined to a hospital bed, they will understand how embarassed people feel being visited and being confined to an ugly bed. This product makes your bedroom look and feel normal and beautiful! It was created by a wonderful man for his wife! Please take a look at the website for TenderCare Beds.

I have witnessed the transformation this product has made at personalizing a room for a loved one who requires a hospital bed. I would love to see this product available to everyone who is confined to a hospital bed for any length of time!

I am a personal witness to the rapid mental, emotional and spiritual health deterioration of a parent/loved one confined to a ugly-looking and demoralizing hospital bed. Please help get the word out through your show so that the hundreds of thousands of men, women and special needs children may feel better about themselves and their environment. If 'Brajama's' should merit air-time then airing the 'Tendercare Bed' should be a "No-Brainer" !

This is definitely a wonderful idea for anyone who has a loved one confined to a hospital bed. The traditional hospital beds tend to be so sterile and non-personal. This certainly helps provide a more "at home" feeling or more normal feeling for someone who has to spend their time confined to a hospital bed.

Studies show that patients rate “environment” as the second most important factor when choosing a skilled nursing facility. They also show that a homelike and therapeutic environment is critical to their recovery process. It's no wonder a product like this would not only benefit the look of a patients room but actually help them in their recovery process. There is a definite mind body connectin between a patients mental state and their physical rehabilitation. I hope this product gets featured on your show as more people need to be aware of the options that are out their...both the hospitals that rehab the patients but more importantly the patients whose lives are at hand.

Not only did I like the idea, I got one for my father who was in the later stages of dimentia. The hospital bed was alway a source of anxiety for him even though it was in the home. Once we fitted his hopspital bed with a Tender Care bed the anxiety went away and he was comfortable in his own room again.

What a fabulous idea. This is especially good for those that have to have a hospital bed for a long period of time. It makes it a piece of furniture. Wish I had thought of it. Good Luck to TenderCare Beds JD

This is truly revolutionary. The HME world of providers are a buzz over this. When I first saw it last year, I contact several friends to let them know about it and they all purchased a unit. Here is the perfect scenario. I had two friend who passed away in recent years. They both had Hospice Care their last few weeks and the hospital bed in their family room was just out of place. Friends and family did not want to see that and now the TenderCare Beds, they don't have to. If this product was available, I would have purchased it for my friends.

This looks like a very interesting product. My mother-in-law is confined to a hospital bed, but embarassed by it's appearance. I think this might help, but I'd like to see if it really works as promised before purchasing. Thanks!

I watched my father in law deteriorate from Alzheimers in an Asst Living Center.Nice environment but the Hospice Co.put him in a standard hospital bed.Institutional looking piece of equipment amongst the furniture. The Tendercare head and foot boards would have provided a calmer more home like environment.Hope to be able to represent this line in my market place soon.Great idea.Gets my vote.

having had a couple of friends pass away at home after lengthy illnesses I definitely see merit to this service. It is so depressing for the patient to see their den or family room turned into a hospital setting. With this service they will have a more dignified feel about their confinement.

I am a greatful recipeant of a Tendercare Bed. I love it and it gave me hope. I have been bedridden for a long time. My plain old hospital bed was embarassing. Now I feel just like everyone else in a normal bed.

Being a medical professional, I can tell you that sometimes the Greatest accomplishments are sometimes the simplest. This product is so simple that it actually hurts, (or should I say heals). The mental and emotional quality of life is of utmost importance when trying to recover. Just as studies have shown that prayer, whatever the religion, enhances the ability to heal through the mental functions, and sense of comfort that accompany it. This product allows an affordable way to access a sense of well-being and comfort however unfortunate the circumstances the patient may be in. Whether it be a pediatric case of cancer, or an elderly patient's last days, this product can be nothing less than extremely beneficial. Look forward to seeing it on the show.

My 18 year old severely disabled son has a progressive neurological disease and is bedridden a lot. We got a TenderCare bed two years ago and it's the best thing that ever happened. His bedroom looks like a teenagers room and not a hospital room. We got a black custom made headboard and footboard in a classic, timeless design. It's a beautiful bed, period. Oh, and yes, it's also a hospital bed. The great part is that not only does it feel like home, but it's a piece you can keep in your home, long after the medical need is gone. It's so beautiful in fact, that I can imagine people purchasing these beds "just because" they are beautiful and not because they are needed.

Teresa Joyce with www.FunctionAll-Linens.com I have worked many years in the medical environment observing patients needs, likes and dislikes. Patients are very reactive to their environments and Dr.Phil will attest to the importance of a good mental state in regards to recovery. A fast recovery is the best case scenario. Happy well adjusted patients usually heal quickly and return home in record time. The medical / recovery environment is critical to the mental state and rwell being of a patient. For seniors it is not a matter of recovery but of ever day life typically confined to 1 maybe 2 rooms. nicer space enhances their daily life and lends ease and beauty to their existance. Demographically speaking baby boomers should know there are lots of great options to help with aging out for themselves as well as their parents. Tender Care beds is indeed taking the word but not the care out of Hospital bed.

I have been the caregiver for several of my family members in their last days. I recently saw this product in person and would have loved to have given my parents, my sister, and my husband a bed like this! What a beautiful way to take care of the people you love and create the warmth that is so lacking in hospital beds. I truly hope you consider this idea for your show.

My Mom has just been released from a Nursing Home/Rehab center in Alabama. I have just seen this product and plan on ordering one for her to use at her home while she recovers! This will be a wonderful surprise and great birthday gift! It will also make her not feel so self-conscious about her bed while she recuperates.!! You have no idea how much this will mean to her. Thank you Tendercare Beds!

This product is without a doubt the best idea in healthcare today. A patient has enough to deal with when they find out they will have to be confined to a hospital bed, their whole world is turned upside down. With this product, they can at least have the comfort of sleeping in a bed that feels like their own...that IS their own. This product is going to change the way the entire world looks at the hospital bed, and give hope to those that are sick.

TenderCare Beds is an absolutely wonderful, amazing, life changing product. This product offers a sense of home back to those that are confined to a cold, demoralizing hospital bed. TenderCare Beds is going to change the entire view of the average hospital bed.

My mom was in a hospital bed at home for well over six months before she passed away. She said that the bed reminded her of being in the hospital, which was a painful, difficult time for her, and she said it constantly reminded her of how sick she was. She especially hated the look of the hospital bed when people came to visit her at the house. What we would have given for something like this. Great idea. It would be nice to see one on the show so we could actually see it and see a real-life demonstration.

As my dad gets older and his mobility decreases, his overwhelming desire is to maintain a "normal" lifestyle. This is becoming more evident as time passes. He is not ready for a hospital bed but I think that something as small as having a “normal” bed can do wonders to one’s self esteem. I truly believe if your spirits are up you can overcome so many of the everyday obstacles. This is an amazing idea.

I wish I had known about this bed when my grandfather was bedridden. Not only would it have made it more tolerable for him, but also for the family. It is hard enough when a loved one is confined to a hospital bed, but the site of ithe hopital bed everytime you walk in the room makes your stomach drop. I can only imagine how hard it is for those with younger bedridden familly members. You would be doing the public a great service by showing them that there is an alternative available to the sterile, generic hospital bed. Especially since it is so easy to install that anyone could do it! I would have thought that an entire bed would have to have been purchased to achieve the look of a "normal"bed.

This looks like a great idea...a hospital bed that doesn't look like one! It's great to have a hospital bed that is not so obviously one...you want things to be as normal as possible in difficult situations! Great idea!
