single mom- day 1

I have never been on a program diet before. this is my first time. I was already cutting out alot of junkfood and going for sugar free stuff. I knew i was going to have to get rid of all the sugar and processed foods. It is hard to do, especially when you have a family. my son is a big junkfood person like me. he gained quite a few pounds the year his dad left and i decided that was it and started cutting things from our diet. i'd heard that sugar can inhibit weight loss, but manufacturers put it in everything. i'm glad i found this book and this community. i feel like i dont have to do this alone.

yesterday i went grocery shopping and picked up alot of the foods i needed. And today i started even though i feel so unorganized. the hardest part for me will be finding all the foods that are mentioned. i have no idea where to get the probiotics mentioned. i couldnt find them in my walmart. cooking is going to be a challenge too because i will have to cook 2 meals, 1 for me and 1 for my kids.

i am not going to let that stand in my way though. i really want this and i know i can do it. i know i have to make a change in the way i eat if i want to get those pounds off and keep them off. i ordered the exercise dvd too, so i will try that or walking everyday. next month i am getting a new bike that my baby's bike seat will fit on and then we all can go biking. i'm so excited!

my biggest downfall is going to be pizza takeout (gonna miss that, even if we only had it once a month). i also have headaches and will miss being able to just pop something in the microwave when a bad one strikes. i guess i can plan ahead though and cook and freeze or do leftovers. also, not being able to find all the variety of foods on the list. plus i have a tight budget with not much left over for frivality. not that good food and good health is frivolous, just saying i may not be able to afford all the foods on the list that i need for variety.

i weighed 159 when i weighed myself this morning. that is my starting weight. I also took a few measurements and i will take more after the 1st cycle is complete, and during the other cycles.(just for my curiousity). i wasn't organized this morning, so didnt drink my lemon water. the tea made me schizo, i felt. i dont drink caffeine. or sodas. the only juice i drink is oj when i have a cold and cranberry juice sometimes. i am a big time water drinker, but even for me 8 glasses seems daunting. i never measured how much i drank before, so who knows, maybe i was drinking that much. that would explain why i had to pee so much i guess. haha.

giving up all those junky foods will be hard but i've been working on it  for a year or so. just going cold turkey now.  mmmmm......turkey. anyway, i have to do this and see if this can work for me. i'll never know unless i try and do it wholeheartedly, no cheating. more tomorrow.

Walmart carries a cottage cheese with probiotics it's not the breakstone the book mentions it's Dariglod trim cottage cheese with probiotics.  It has a sort of maroon colored lid.  Smith's is the only place I have found that carries kefir.  It's by the yogurts drinks and quarts of milk in ours.  Good luck.
