WHAT A DIFFERENCE

A great big hug for all of you. Because you have all been so friendly and sharing, I find my shyness melting away. Two months ago I would have never done this--but. Today I went shopping in a neighboring state and decided to stop for something to eat. I found myself with what was obviously a new inexperienced  waitress. I talked to her for a few minutes before ordering and she thanked me for being the first person that day to maker her smile. A few minutes later another single woman was seated several tables away and we began talking about the waitress being new. I invited her to sit at my table and eat together. We spent a pleasant hour together without a pause in conversation. Here I am, 65 years old, and had never done such a thing before! Turned out the other lady lives in a neighboring town and we never would have met had I not suggested we share a table. Thank you all for being you. You have helped me become a little more outgoing and looking forward to making friends now that two hurdles have been cleared.

Well good for you girl.Get out there and live.I use to be very shy at one time, believe it or not.Now I can talk to just about anyone. My hubby thinks it's funny. He says how can you talk to people you don't know, and I said if you talked to me more I wouldn't have to....LOL

I am glad you are feeling good.

Take care.

Yvonne

I'm really happy for you...that is wonderful.  How neat to have first-hand experience resulting from being a part of the Board.

Melissa.

We may be here for support and to help with overcoming your shyness but YOU were the one that was there and initiated the conversation. YAY for you!

Sini (or so I have been dubbed)

Thats so nice that you invited her to share your table ! Its nice to meet new people and you may get a lifelong friendship from your experience now. I often speak to people while grocery shopping with Scott or my mom and they ask how do you just go up to people I said maybe they need someone to say hello to them and it might brighten their day. I know all the people on this site many of them I email daily !

Big Hugs

Good for you.I bet you made a difference in both of them womens life. I beleive everything happens for a reason and there was a reason you were there and offered kind words to 2 strangers. Great job.

Dayam Girl!!!!!!!!!!  Good for you.  And good for them too, because you all learned something today.  You made someone feel better about herself and posssibly decide to keep a job she was debating about.  You made a single woman into a friend.  What more can you ask of one lunch?  As Sheilah says, you were there for a reason.  And another platitude, when one door closes, another one opens.  It was your time.  Enjoy.  I am so proud of you because you realiae, nothing terrible would have happened if she said, No, I'd rather be alone.  I feel you glowing from here.  Have a great night!  Bobbie
