Yesterday, Tuesday, I could not sleep and finally got up at 2 am. I drank my coffee, straightened the house, surfed the net and decided to go back to bed around 7 am. As I came in from the clothes line the phone was ringing. To my surprise it was Paul, a neighbor's son, wanting to know if I had any work for him to do. I was surprised because Paul is never up before 10am. So I said I needed to mow the grass at the cabins. He agreed to come over in an hour. At 8am we took off to mow grass. Paul was to use the tractor and I would use the riding mower to get close to buildings and trees. We mowed for 5 1/2 hours (minus the time it took us to push the mower out of several ruts and holes I had found). On the way home I mentally figured out his pay. He gets $8 per hour with paid lunch. I owed him $52, right? When we got home I asked him how much I owed him. He replied I don't know. So, I looked at the clock and decided it said 12:30pm. I took the calculator and said ok, 4.5x8=36 he agreed and I went to get the money. I wanted to give him a little extra because he was leaving for camp the next day, Friday. Somewhere it was registering that I owed him more than $36 but deffinetly not at recall. So anyway I handed him three $20 bills. He was at awe so much extra!! He tried to give me $20 back saying it was way too much. I insisted explaining I wanted him to have it for camp. He left with a big smile saying I was too generous. I watched him leave thinking I was a jerk because I am on a fixed income. This goes to show young and old think a lot alike and brain farts are not limited to either. About an hour later I realized I had only given him a gift of $8 and it was Tuesday, not Thursday.
He's coming back to work some more today. I wonder if he figured it out yet.

I hope you all know I was making fun of the way my mind works. If Paul was not an honest, concientious, respectful young man I would never keep work for him to do. It is a shame I can't laugh out loud on this thing.
We all have our "senior moments"....
I had a boss that always called them brain farts and it stuck!
