Hello I am Nihlia Griffin i am 45 years old. In 2007 i woke up with a knot on my right breast. I had just had a mamagram several months before. That was the day my life changed forever! When the doctors first saw me they prepared us for the worst because the cancer was so aggressive and often did not respond well to the chemo. I am a fighter and would face this battle with a smile and a good attitude I had two daughters watching me. My right breast went from a double D to an I cup i had the orange peal, hot and redness on my breast. As of today I've had very aggressive chemo and a target drug called herceptin my total of treatments we 36. I have recieved 36 aggressive radiation treatments. My cancer is called Invasive Ductal carsinoma with inflamation  THe caner was also in my lymphnodes. this has been a long hard battle I am begining my reconstruction surgery now I have had my expanders put in to stretch my skin . Through all of this my body has changed so much in December of 2008 I had both breast removed and lymphnodes removed. I have gained alot of weight from the medicines. What I have the most trouble with is my arms and hands swelling from the lymphedema. I have went to therapy we had to drive 2 hours from our house to a hospital my insurance would accept i was massaged and taught how to wrap to reduce swelling. Now I wear compression garments on both armsand hands. I have searched the internet and asked doctors maybe you can help me . What else can be done to battle the lymphedema.
