Do Not Pull, Nor Push, a Sliver In!

On the May 22th, 2009 Episode of The Drs, Dr. Travis Stork said to use tweezers to pull out a sliver, but then he also said to pull a sliver out in the direction that it went in.

While I agree with Dr. Stork on using a tweezers to do the job (possibly, along with a magnifying glass, or magnifying glasses, in my opinion), I would urge everyone to please, please, do not pull a sliver (supposedly "out") in the direction that it went in.  The reason for this is because moving a sliver in the direction that the sliver went in, would be moving the sliver further into wherever the sliver is embedded, and thus would not be pulling the sliver out at all...unless, of course, it was possible to move the sliver all the way in, through the middle of, and out the other side of, whatever part contained the sliver; however, that most definitely would not be practical.

Thus, I would urge anyone dealing with a sliver to not pull, nor push, a sliver further in.  To the contrary - and suggesting the complete reverse of what Dr. Stork says - I would direct that anyone dealing with a sliver: to pull out the sliver in the exact OPPOSITE direction that it went in.  As most anyone should see, it is just common sense that the procedure that I gave regarding pulling out a sliver is the correct procedure to follow...and hey, I'm not even a medical doctor!!

Namaste

I believe you mistook what he said, as the animation showed something similar to what you're saying. You and Dr. Stork both said it in different ways, but mean much the same thing.
