Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the show the day it aired.
However, when it comes to homebirth, women don't take into account what can happen with the baby after birth. If your midwife isn't well trained, it can end up having deadly consequences. I thought mine had all this training. Nope! Midwives also are not regulated in some states. So, something can happen to your child and they can just walk away with no recourse whatsoever. You can do all the research you want. You will only find what you want to find that supports you. Me having the comforts of home weren't worth losing her. Homebirth really isn't worth it. My daughter is dead because I trusted a woman who lied to me and was clueless. She shouldn't have died from what she did. If you decide to homebirth, take your baby to be examined ASAP. I don't want to see any other family suffer what I have. This is going to be a long road and hard fight for my family in order to seek justice for our baby.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your sad story to help others become more aware. We need more consistent midwife regulations in the U.S., so that people can know who they're working with and what kind of training and certification they have.
God Bless your you and your child. I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your story. God Bless You
I'm sorry about your loss. I know that there are arguments for both sides, home birth and hospital. It seems as though you take a risk either choice. I felt comfortable with the birth of my daughter despite the complications, until I began interacting on the site. I can second guess whether my doctor made the right choice by cutting me instead of attempting to change my birthing position, but like you said my daughter is alive and healthy. It was worth my pain and discomfort to know that I have her. My body is not as precious as she is. My body can heal (and my husband still thinks I'm sexy despite it all!). Maybe if I had her at home she would have been born with no complications, but the fact is that my next baby will also be born at the hospital. I respect all the women that are informed and choose to have home births.
Something can happen to your child at the hospital and you have no legal recourse either. It goes both ways. Those of use who choose to homebirth, know the risks. We know what can happen and we take those upon ourselves in order to have the birth experience we want. Homebirth is worth it. Your view is tainted and you cant see the forest through the trees. I am sorry what happened to your daughter, but being in a hospital does not guarentee safety. And in fact the hospital causes a lot of problems that would otherwise not be an issue at home.
