Hi, my hip was really hurting, got it xrayed, etc and everything was in place and hadn't shifted (I have an artificial hip). The doctor said it was musculature he thought, probably bursitis, and that I may need a cortisone shot. Also to take ibuprofen. So I am taking the ibuprofen and doing what he said. Is there anything else people have done or taken to help pain like this improve? He said to stay off it for awhile too, but I have been for a couple weeks and there has been no relief. Thanks,

Does Heat help Bursitis?

I found out that ice helps bursitis better. For now, my doctor has me on 4 Aleve a day, and my surgeon is getting back to me next week.

Thank you for that advice...I do tend to forget sometimes. I am on misopropstol to prevent ulcers in my stomach from the high dose I am on of the Aleve.

Unfortunately Aleve is the only think I can take when I need it, at least until I see the surgeon for possible different advice. I'm under the care of my primary care though because i need it at prescription dose. Thank you for the link.

I have bursitis in my left hip. I am seeing a chiropractor who uses ultrasound on it to reduce the inflammation. I ice it whenever I can. Episodes take a while to go away, but I refuse to go the medication way.
