Benefits of Drinking Tea

Top 10 Health Benefits of Drinking Tea

1.    Tea contains antioxidants.
2.    Tea has less caffeine than coffee.
3.    Tea may reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke.
4.    Tea protects your bones.
5.    Tea gives you a sweet smile.
6.    Tea bolsters your immune defenses.

Which tea is better -- green, black, white?
There really isn't enough difference to get overly excited about. All teas generally contain the same amount of flavonoids. Green and black tea come from the same plants, but green tea is dried for a shorter time and doesn't go through a fermenting process used for black tea.

Are decaffeinated teas just as good for you?
Some companies use chemicals to decaffeinate tea; others use a water process. The chemical process removes more of the beneficial polyphenols, so read labels carefully when choosing decaf.

I was thinking mainly about how it helps with immune defenses, and with the H1N1 going around it can help strengthen immune systems.

We drink a lot of tea here but it HAS to be decaf because of my husband health issues.  So, it is decaf coffee, decaf tea and sometimes decaf sodas.  If he gets caffine he can't function.

Thanks for the ifo.

I am still trying to rest up from my week in LA!

You are welcome for the info....it was a lot that I didnt know either, and I looked it up because I drink so much tea in the winter I was hoping it was beneficial in a lot of ways, and it turns out it is.

Hi melissa,

I love all tea but my favorites are chamomile and

recently I came across a honey flavored chamomile

and it is really good, decaf so I can wind down after

a long day. Very good info, I can't drink reg. green

tea, it hurts my stomach but I drink orange flavored

and it doesn't bother me.

Hi Sludge, I know the honey chamomile--I drink that one too.  I really dont have a favorite, but I can't drink green tea either because I am allergic to it.  I love it but it just doesnt agree with me.  Turns me into the meanest person you can imagine--a whole other person practically, so I stay away from it.  I use any flavor really.
