Help for Insomnia

Hi...There are no other options left to help with my insomnia except one thing......my neurologist suggested reading this really interesting book called Say Goodnight To Insomnia, by Gregg D. Jacobs, PH.D.  It's a self-help book that conditions you to sleep better.  You read the first 4 chapters, then a chapter a week, making it a 6 week program.  I am only  half way through it but have found that it kind of works...I don't sleep through the night, but have longer intervals of sleep.  I am hoping it will last but I still have 3 more chapters to go to see if it really helps even more.

If you have insomnia, it is a good book to start out with, but you need to follow all directions which includes filling out a 60 second questionairre every morning.  This book was written based on actual studies done that prove this book works if you follow it.  It is " A drug-free program developed at Harvard Medical School".  I suggest giving it a try.  I got it off of Amazon.com for $10.  If anything, even if it doesnt work, it is a very interesting book!

Melissa.

That would work like a charm for me because the minute I start reading, I fall asleep!

I actually slept 6 hours in a row one night.  Was only one night but it is more 4 to 6 hours now.  Occaisionally the night sucks but it is getting better.  Don't know if the book is what is helping, but it could be.

I definitely deal with difficulty sleeping, I don't sleep many hours at a time/wake up frequently during the night.  Great idea...I'll be looking forward to giving it a try.  Thank You for the information.
