I have been doing this for a few years now, and have yet to have smelly feet/fungus one time so far, literally:
Every day, I shower/bathe and wash my feet ... each toe and in between each toe with soap (I use Irish Spring) really well. Get my toes all soapy then rinse them off.
Once I am drying off, I dry each individual toe and I DRY IN BETWEEN each toe until completely dry. Then I let them air out for a little while. Then do whatever -- put shoes on etc. It has worked for me for a long time now.
I do want to mention that it took about a week when I initially started washing each toe/in between each tos/DRYING in between each toe to see the effect of no smell; it didn't happen right away.
I also suggest always airing out shoes thoroughly before wearing them again (ie, 2nd day in a row). If you wear shoe inserts/arch supports like I do, I take them out every day to air out. And change socks and air out my feet in between things during the day if possible. I also have 2 pair of sneakers, so I can alternate days wearing them.
I hope this is helpful to people!
