Here are a few tips for making healthy choices when eating out:
  • Avoid breaded, battered and fried foods
  • Select foods prepared with more healthful cooking methods, such as steamed, grilled, broiled, baked, roasted, poached and sauteed
  • Hold the mayo, sour cream and butter to reduce the amount of fat
  • Choose small portions by ordering an appetizer as your meal
  • Order a side salad or baked potato instead of fries
  • Request brown rice instead of white rice
  • Avoid or share desserts
  • Request a box and take home leftovers when portions are too big
  • Understand that it’s okay to NOT finish everything on your plate
