I'd get the MRI. Wouldn't take any chances.
Melissa.
Thanks! Most likely I will after the holidays.

Good luck...I hope everything is ok!

I agree with melissaw72 I would go and get the MRI done, it's better to know if there is something wrong rather that not knowing at all. I myself have had a pressure in my head for the past 5 months and I never get headaches so my doctor is sending me for a CT scan to rule things out and to be on the safe side.
Sweetie,
I think if your Dr said you need it you should get it....The sooner the better. Drs say stuff because something isnt right! They arent going to tell you need something if you do not. They are held in the highest regard and take serious oath and live by code of conduct to help and protect your health.
Try to get in Before Christmas. It may help you enjoy your holidays better. Who knows you may need medications or if you dont get this fixed it may make things worse and injure you further! OK that is JUST M O and my Momma just came out!

If you have insurance-than get the MRI, however there are lot of times where doctors suggest needless tests. If you are really experiencing severe problems from this fall, than it would probably be beneficial to make sure that everything is okay and go and get the MRI. Just be aware that some times doctors order very expensive tests that may not need to be done. If at anytime you suspect that a test may not be needed, you can always get second opinion from another physician! In your case-because you are an athlete, it is always a good idea to get thoroghly evaluated after an injury. If something like a muscle, ligament, or a tendor tear, due to an injury- there is a significantly better outcome, if diagnosed and treated promptly! The same goes for injury to bones. I know this from experience, I used to do extreme sports; down hill extreme mountain biking, extreme snow boarding, ect.. and after an injury to my right knee- I attempted to "tough it out";-and because I didn't go in and get treated immediatly they ended up having to do a complete Knee replacement! I had torn my ACL and completely shattered the knee cap! Most people want to know how I was able to deal with the pain prior to going to the doctor-and It was because I did something Drs always say not to do- i took an old prescription of pain pills. Anyway, I hope you feel better soon!:)
He said that it wouldn't change my yteatment, but it would give me more information I guess.
When you get the MRI, ask them to give you a copy of the MRI on CD. Since everything is digital now-they can burn you a CD for free. If you get this CD save it, so that if you have to see any other doctors in the future you have a copy of the MRI to give to them! I have had a few MRI's on my back and the doctors that ordered them-didn't see anything wrong! However, I got copies on CD and later when I went to a specialist, he reviewed them and found that I had fractures in the vertebrae in my low back. He wasn't sure why the other doctors didn't see the fractures-but because I had that copy for the new doctor to look at,I was finally able to get a diagnosis and figure out why I am in so much pain! It is always a good Idea to get copies of all X-rays, MRIs Ct's, ect... since it's all digital now they can give you copies of all of these! Most doctors will give you a copy of the X-ray (or Radiology) report- but the report is just the radiologists interpretation of the X-ray and you want to have a copy of the actual "pictures" that are taken! Hope you feel better soon. It sounds like it is something that might take some physical therapy to correct, but the therapy is worth it-in the long run. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thanks! what happens when you get an MRI for your back. How long does it take?
About 45 minutes (for me it did).
Melissa.
