I have been having migraines on a daily basis for 7 years now. Been to lots of doctors in the states and Germany. No one knows what is going on. They found a pineal cyst, arthritis in my jaw and sinusitius but they all say this is not the cause of my migraines. I have also had a devated septum repaired to try to correct my headaches but nothing works and no preventitive medicine or migraine medicine works.

Have you had an MRI and/or CT scan?
Melissa.
wow! you went through a lot. I have migraines too. i'm so glad that my neurology doctor finally able to find a right medication for me but the problem is it's hard to get. because it doesn't cover my insurance so the pharmacy has to go through my insurance to get approval.
i wish you well......

Have they tried Topamax or maxalt with you? Topamax is taken daily as a preventative med. It usually isn't thought of by most doctors because it is marketed for control of seizure, but it works really well on migraines! I take topamax daily and it has helped tremendously! Maxalt is a migraine med that most doctors will only use if every other fails. It is given under the tongue usually and it works pretty fast. Try asking your doctor about both of these if you haven't already tried them. I know I have severe migraines to the point that you can see brain damage on my MRI's from them, the maxalt and the topamax help.

i take maxalt and it helps a lot with my headache
I've been having around 3 migraines a week for a over year. I'm on Topamax and Amatriptaline they worked for a week or 2 and are not working anymore, I take Imatrex like it's candy. So I finally said to my Dr could it be my neck, heard of someone with a pinched nerve in their neck so he said ok we'll do a MRI and sent me to PT, at PT they massage my neck and my neck is really tight, it started of for 2 weeks turned my migraines into just headaches for 2 weeks and then I went 2 weeks with no headaches or migraines :) but now they are back again :( anyways so the MRI showed 2 minor buldging discs and narrowing of the spine which I guess is arthritis but he said something about could be pressing on a nerve, he talks so fast but said we could try cortisone injections, waiting to hear back from that office to set up appointment, don't have too much hope with that, I had them in my lower back for a buldging disc in my lower back and they didn't work but I'll try anything to get rid of these migraines, I've had a migraine the last 4 days. Enough already!!!! I don't know how you've delt with them for 7 years, I'm about ready to loose my mind going on a year and a half. I've had migraines for 20 years but but they were occationally like typical people that have migraines, I could deal with that.
As silly as this sounds.. the only thing that helped me with my migranes were muscle relaxers. I would not try this without talking to your Dr. but it helped me.
I know how you feel I have suffered from migrines for over 20yrs now they were really bad in the '90's then mellowed out. But, in 2007 I started getting them again almost daily. I currently get botox injections every 3 or 4 months at the Pain Clinic in La Jolla. I also take Zomig, promethazine and Lortab when I do get one and they are not as bad as they use to be. Midrin also helps when it's not a killer migraine. I also have studied foods and drinks that you should aviod if you suffer from migraines. The worst for me is Cheese.
By the way the Botox treatments are given to me by a Pain Management Doctor not cosmetic. This is the only preventative measure that has ever worked for me and I have tried them ALL. However, I still get them they just are not as bad nor do they last as long.
Hope you find something that helps you.
