Hi Everyone.
I am scared this a.m my husband has been sick all night long. Throwing up etc.
My sleep was on and off all night.
I was listening for him. When he is sick like this (I have seen this a few times over the course of our lives) he likes to lay alone.
What makes this time different is when this happened in our past he didnt have a blod clot in his heart. He wasnt taking COUMIDIN, and I fear his electrolytes could be depleted.
How does he refresh himself? Should I go and buy gatorade?
I called the gals early this am and said I wasnt picking them up for our meeting.
Recovery does come first however this is in equal part to my loyalty and my boundless love for MY HUSBAND.
Today I am really really nervous and any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Gatorade is good but if that doesn't help or if he can't even keep that down try Children's Pedilyte it is clear so it doesn't have all the coloring or things that could keep bothering him. it sounds weird but it should work to keep him hydrated. Hope he feels better soon. Carrie
I have said a prayer for you both. I have dealt with a few alcoholics in my past... I think the fact that you are showing selflessness is a giant step in your recovery. Being able to put someone above your own needs is a great, not bad thing. Most of the people I've known to be alcoholics, never get past the seflishness that plagues thier life. If you really need the support from your group, call them, or someone who attended the meeting and have them go over it with you. That way, you really didn't miss out on what was said. I understand it's a little more than the words spoken at these meetings, but it will still give you the peice of support you need for right now. When your husband gets better, then you can continue with the meetings, but for right now, he needs YOUR support and love. But please remember, if you aren't well, then you can't be of any support to him. So keep yourself well. (mentally, physically and emotionally) I'm sure you know the signs and triggers of your addiction, just make sure you are paying attention to them aswell as being there for him. You have the strength! I believe in you. Sometimes we are pushed outside of our comfort zones. Just put faith in yourself and in God! I know that the hike may be long, but when you finally reach the top of that mountain, the view is SO worth it!
Don't complicate what needs to be done. Sit down take a breath and say the serenity prayer. 'KISS'! (I know you know what that means.)
Take care hun and God be with you both.

Dear Debbie,
Thank you for being my new friend too and your prayers.
Today I take Tommy to the surg (ORTHOPEDIC) and I know it will not be fruitful.
He is on a bloodthinner (COUMIDIN) and another doc told us with his complicated medical history no one will touch him for 3 months.

Dear Labelfree,
Continue to talk to you gals by phone for support.
Yes Gatorade could be good for him. The doctor prescribed it when I had food poisoning. If you are really worried about him, grab a bucket, something large that's washable or disposable and head to the ER where they can give him and IV.
