Blog of a RECOVERING ADDICT

Hello great people of THE DOCTORS WEBSITE............

I am learning so much in my recovery,  let me give you an example of being "POWERLESS"

By admitting I am powerless of people and places and things it actually makes me MORE POWERFUL.

Just a small example of my crazy day.

It started out wonderful...I picked up a girlfriend around 6:30 AM for a 7 AM morning 12 step meeting. (IT is a wonderful way for me to start each day actually M-F)

My husband for Christmas and my birthday coming up JAN 16th bought me a new 2008 HHR CHEVY!~

( it is so cute and it fits me well.)

After I dropped my gal pal off I went home to pick up my husband to go and get blood tests,  and then we had to go to our bank.

Once we came out of the bank with my sweet doggie honeybear in the back........NOTHING...My brand new car would not turn.  The key felt like it was the wrong keyfor my car.  We were stuck!  It started to snow but......

THANK GOODNESS  we have a warranty,  with this we were given a free tow to the dealership, and a rent a car until our car was/is fixed.

I actually said out loud riding in the tow truck....THANK GOD WE WERENT DRIVING  GOD DIDNT WANT ME TO BE DRIVING THIS CAR RIGHT NOW.....

With that the TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID "Yeah maybe you avoided a car wreck or something!"  I said I truly believe in devine intervention and I said to the tow truck driver "Your our guardian angel this afternoon!"

He looked real gruf and rough around the edges but when I said that to him his face softened up and he got a twinkle in his eyes and offered to drop us off up front so it would be easier for us!

I could have gotten all screwed up inside.  This event if I allowed it could have ruined my day.

I am learning in my recovery the drugs and the booze was just a symptom of my problems.

THIS IS A DISEASE of my thought processes. I change my stinkin thinkin my life just keeps getting better and better.

BEING POWERLESS I am POWERFUL and I place my will and my life in the care of GOD  who ALWAYS HAS MY BACK......

Hope ya all have a wonderful safe peaceful weekend.

GODBLESS YOU ALL!~

Hello Labelfree,   Sounds like you've not only had a bad day, you've had some bad times in your life.  I'm happy to read that you are turning that around.  If you truly believe in God, you have made a huge and rewarding change in your life.  You must also believe your life belongs to God, it's his life. If you keep following this path you will overcome any painful past.  Keep telling your story.
