About Me
Female - 49 years old. Post menapausal. Ex smoker. Married, mother of three girls. One 19, 2 17. Self employed dog trainer. I was always athletic even though I smoked two packs of cigarettes a day forever. I quit 2.5 yeaqrs ago. Since losing my Dad suddenly to his first round of chemo at Johns Hopkins for Stage IV esophageal cancer 2 years ago, I have become a fitness nut and a nutrition advocate. I work out like crazy and I eat whole foods and very few refined carbs and I go as organic as possible. However, I suffer from fairly recently diagnosed low thyroid and find my synthroid keeps needing adjusting, therefore, all my excellent working out and eating right seems sabotaged by the low thyroid. At any rate, if I could ask you all to do one thing, it would be to do not just one, but maybe a series (2-3) shows on Esophageal cancer. It is on the rise more than almost any other cancer and most people have never heard of it. People need to be educated regarding Esophageal Cancer, both types and regarding adenocarcinoma, they NEED to be educated regarding acid reflux, GERD and Barrett's. My brother was diagnosed with Barrett's shortly after my Dad's death and missed a monitoring appt. by six months only to find some cells did turn to stage I. He has been successfully treated (at least we think) by a Hopkins person dedicated to this cancer. He was treated with EMR and then treatment for the Barrett's cells. I watch you instead of Oprah (that is really saying something great about your show!) and so I know you have a platform to get the message out to millions. Anyway, I love you show.
