desperately need help

does anybody  who have headaches tried either neurofeedback or biofeedback?

I get headaches everyday with nonestop. I also have other symptoms like back pain, numbness and tingling hands/feet, neck pain, dizziness, sensitive to light, dry eyes, motion sickness, nausea, vomiting (sometimes).

test i've done. MRi (brain), CT scan with contrast and without, tested for diabetes, thyroid, hormone and comple blood count and vitamin levels are all normal.

have tried imetrex, zoloft, elavil, nortryptyline, verapamil, midrin, meclizine, vicodin, ibuprofen. none of them work.

I'm currently just taking vitamins. calcium, fish oil, coq10, magnesium, riboflavin, feverfew.

went to neurologist a week ago, ask about the EMG test. doctor said, that test isn't neccesary.

did an x-ray for my back and spine. normal. getting more depressed lately. tried physical therapy but i was in more pain so i stopped. going to start again next month.

been to ER a lot but hated it because they just give me medication. have health insurance but only have medi-cal.

it's dififult for me to do other thing might help my headache because it's costly.

wish i was better already. my doctor cares about me and never say there's nothing wrong with you but they do say it could be because i have anxiety, or worry about my health.

i'm not giving up nor as my doctor.

does anybody experiencing same thing as i do??  will be 25 in october.

try frova(frovatripta) from your doctor it may help you.. some times it helps me if i catch my headache in time if not i take one and in about 3-4hrs later if its still there you can take ibuprofen as well..maybe keep a journal and keep track on what triggers your headaches if you havent already.. if you find them try and avoid any of your symptoms..

hope i helped..

thanks for the advice but i'm not interested taking medication anymore. i tried several medication for headache it did not work for me. in fact, my parents aren't letting me to take any medicaton and i agree too. unless i have a clear diagnosis of course i will take it but i'm just going to stick with vitamins and see what happens. that's the only thing i could do right now. it's very hard to find somebody that will help me with my symptoms because i have insurance that i get free medical.

I have had been thru it all and they never find anything. My Neurologist say that I have "Chronic Daily Headache Syndrome with Migraines". It is real...I have the same things you are dealing with...a headache that never goes away...they are mild, moderate and severe.  All depends on the day. I have tried many different medications, allergy to Imitrex but now I am taking Topamax and I get a medication from Canada plus I am on other med's. But the Topamax & the med from Canada which is a calcium channel blocker (you can get some from the U.S) are for the headaches. But I have been taking them for 3 years and I am still getting the same headaches, infact when I recently saw my Neurologist I told him I think the headaches are getting worse, he increased the med's. Which gets me frustrated because I was results! I want a PAIN FREE day! Talk to your doctor about Topamax, maybe it will work for you. To find a good Neurologist...search the internet for one in your area that deals with Headaches/migraines, my Neurologist suffers from them so I was like "YEAH, Someone that knows what I am dealing with"!!! There is help out there, just really search. I wish you luck and Pain free days!

I'm doing best I can do get better. I'm not sure yet if the vitamins are helping with my headache but good thing is that i don't go to emergency anymore. I hate going there because all they do is give morphine. whenever i have terrible headache. i play WII and it helps but not a lot. at least i can do something to forget the pain. I have a new doctor now and i'm going to stick with it for now. it's very hard for me to find a new doctor that will take my insurance.

I know it get frustrating when you have no idea what or why this is happening to you. No one can give you something to make them stop. Even tho I take all this medication everyday, I still have the headaches, and yes I do get very frustrated. But I have hopes that one day they will find the right medication to make them stop. For now until you do see your doctor and he gives you something for the pain, try just laying in a dark room or take a nap. I know you would rather be doing other things but it's alot better than taking morphine at the hospital. I know what you are going thru and it's hard and it does get frustrating but try not to get too frustrated. I wish you alot of luck with your new doctor. Seeing how you have a headache everyday...ask your doctor about Chronic Daily Headache Syndrome.

I'm sorry....I just re-read what you wrote...Ask your insurance company for a referral! You tell them that you need a doctor in you area that will take your insurance and you need a primary doctor first then your primary can find you a neurologist that will take your insurance. Make sure you do this...Your primary doctor can also give you some pain medication for some relief.

Have you been to an allergist?  Just a shot in the dark.....anything could be causing headaches.....get a thorough allergy testing done.

Good Luck!

Neurofeedback

The answer to your questions is, "yes", neurofeedback has helped many people who have suffered from headaches or migraines.  There is a study published in the journal Clinical EEG and Neuroscience in which 46 patients elected to undergo neurofeedback training as an alternative to medication.  At the end of the study, 54% of the individuals in the neurofeedback group experienced a complete elimination of their migraine headaches with no side effects and 39% in the neurofeedback group reported more than a 50% reduction in the frequency of their migraines.  By comparison, 8% of the people in the pharaceutical therapy group reported similar improvements to those in the neurofeedback group.

These results are consistant with the feedback we receive from our BrainPaint neurofeedback providers around the world.  In addition, we have heard thatsurance companies in California are paying for neurofeedback sessions specifically for headaches and migraines (with a pre-authorization).  Note:  the insurance companies CPT codes are listed under EEG biofeedback.
