Does anyone here have a high blood pressure? I'm only 25 and my blood pressure is still little bit high. I try the hydrochlorthaziede at first but it was causing me diarrea so my doctor told me to stop taking it but I still constantly had diarrea. when i went to see my doctor for a follow up visit, he gave me a new medication called benazepril 10 mg. my dad's parent had high blood pressure. I really don't like take medication because it never worked for me. i have tried other blood pressure medication in the past. i have tried metoprolol, verapamil. I'm really hoping to find a right blood pressure medication for me. I do excercise alot and i tried to stay away from too much salt. i was born in korea and lots of korean food can be too salty. I hope to get the blood pressure under control.

I have had high BP since 21 years old and on tenormin and maxzide (a potassium-sparing form of HCTZ) over the years. It runs in the family and my stress level tends to run on the high side which contributes t it too.

I take Clonidine and it works great for me! Really, you just have to keep trying them until you find the one that works for you. Everyone is different and everyone responds differently to medications. Also, if you increase you magnesium intake- this will help lower you blood pressure. Limiting the amount of sodium in your diet may help too. Reducing stress, will greatly lower BP and so I also "meditiate" not in the traditional sense though- I just put on calming music and relax for about 20min.- no disruptions and this helps reset your bodies levels of stress hormones. If you just take 20min. a day to be alone and relax this will greatly help you BP. If you can't do 20min. then do however much time you can, even 5min of relaxation is better than not doing any!
