Mineral Oil is good if you haven't tried it already and prunes do help so does cranberry juice and fiber ( cheerios ). There is also that yogart that is suppose to help regulate your system as well though I don't remember the name of it but apparently it works.

This sounds strange but I have an old time DR who reccomeened a table spoon of epsoms salt dissoleved in hot water a cup. I did this once when I was constipated and oh my god I was cleaned out in a half hr. Since then raisans are a big part of my diet.

Smile if you can

Any thing with natural bacterias in it (that are good for you like the ones in yogurt). A lot of fiber would be good, like cereal. There's a new OTC drug that is the same as yogurt, I'm not sure what it's called. It has something to do with colon. I hope that maybe one of these might help you. If you have tried everything, maybe you should see a doctor.

Yes prunes do help. But fiber is the best thing,as the other friends have said the yogurt made for your digestive system.Have you tried the laxative Phillips Milk Of Magnesia my doctor told me about it,it does the trick by the morning time. But its not good to take them all the time!!But fiber is the key,so try to eat things high in fiber.

I agree with everything that has been mentioned from prunes to raisin and very definitely a high fiber diet.  The OTC that was mentioned is Colon Cleanse.  I have problems with constipation at time, due to a spinal cord injury that affects everything from my shoulders down in some way, but I eat lots of fiber and just love prunes and raisins.  Wish you the best and please don't hesitate to talk to your doctor.

I still take Benefiber Chews (2) in the AM Somtimes I still get constipated, if I dont go for 2 or more days I drink Miralax wich is an over the counter thing. Hope this helps

Hi,

My oldest sister has always dealt with chronic constipation for approx. 40+ years. She tried everything.. believe me. Her doctor told her to take Align. She said it works wonders. She goes daily now. If I recall, she said that you can buy it in a drug store/pharmacy. You can check out their website at aligngi.com. Hope this helps you because constipation is no joy.

Jenng,

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND, since my son was born 7 years ago I have struggled with IBS.  I had loose stool, problems for the first 5 years, and for the last 2 I have had horrendous constipation. Laxitives don't work, enemas don't work. It's terrible, I feel for you.  Honestly I have stopped eating solid foods and started guzzling down 100% apple Juice, eating apple sauce, prune juice, it seems to help me from getting to the point where i wont go for weeks, but I am still not going every 2-3 days like we should.  I used to be so regular the same time everyday like clockwork, but those days are over, if you find something that helps you let me know, It would be nice to Share the "cure"

thanks!

I am have bouts of constipation versus diarrhea due to IBS.  Unfortunately eating more leafy green vegatables and fruits make me more constipated.  Mineral Oil works slightly but mostly I end up with fatty looking stool.  I have tried everything and the only thing that helps, at times, is ground flax seeds in my foot along with soy products (burgers, hot dogs, etc).  Any other advice because when I get constipation it is like an inflammatory response and I end up with fever, chills, and some times emesis.
