About Me
I have been a teacher for 27 years but my school had to cut two science teachers last fall and I was one of the two let go. I was fine with that since I have so many years of teaching experience and four degrees I am near the top of the pay scale and by getting rid of me they could keep two beginner teachers. I also was in a position to get some other major things in my life accomplished. Three months later my husband lost his job and we have been moving around the country ever since, trying to find a place to settle down where we can find work that is both economically sufficient and emotionally rewarding. We spent January in Boston, February in North Carolina and moved to Jacksonville in March. My husband, my dog and I have spent more than 120 days in extended stay hotels since the first of the year. We thought Florida was going to be the last stop for a while, but the economy there is worse than where we started from in Georgia, so my husband has taken a new position in Austin, Texas. I am moving us into a new house on Monday. In the midst of all of that I am trying to analyze data to finish my fifth degree, a PhD in Science Education; I turned 50 at the end of June; and my husband and I were happily married 28 years in August.
