Start Off.

Hello; Add me if you want.

Im 16, 5' 10.5" and overweight and Im going to write this blog everyday to help others out there.

Well, Ive been over weight all my life, since I was 8, Ive been gaining weight. Ive tried all the yo-yo diets and nothing seems to work, I have even bought book, after book, after book and nothing works.

After I saw a picture of me in a canoe shirtless I was stunned, I just kept think to myself, "How could you let yourself get this big?"; but I didnt let it bother me I was proavtive about it.

2009 is the graduation year of my cousion, Nathan, and they live on a lake. "With a lake comes swimming, tans, shirtless moments and Im not going through that again", is all that went through my mind. So I decide Im going to do what I need to do, yet nothing is working.

Ive been working out everyday, okay well almost everyday, and I watching my portions, adding a vegetable to every meal and waiting for the winter to break to start walking and biking.

If any knows what Im talking about, being overweight when all of your friends are thin as can be? yeah i have to go through that.

Another reason I want to lose this weight is that my senior year is 09-10 and I want my senior year to be the best I can remember, awesome senior pictures and an outstanding prom.

If you want you can keep up with me, I will write here almost everday and if anyone has any advice, let me know.

Thank You! (:

 Hi Justin!

Congratulations on doing something about your weight. Its hard work but well worth it. Forget diets, eat a well balenced diet. Its easier to do all the time too.Doing portion size is good.  Stick to fruit for a sweet, skip the chips and soda. When I did it even got my skin to clear up. See if someone in your neighborhood needs their dog walked. Dogs make great four footed trainers. Most Important: don't beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon...just get back on and start again. Senior year is a great time,do every activity you want . The memories you and your FRIENDS will have won't include weight.

I THINK IT IS AN AWESOME THING THAT YOU WANT TO BE MORE HEALTHY.  I AM A MOM AND I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.  AS A TEEN I TOO WAS HEAVIER THAN MY FRENDS. SINCE I AM SO MUCH OLDER THAN YOU I CAN GIVE YOU SOME ADVICE BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN IN YOUR SITUATION AND I NOW AM OLD ENOUGH TO REALIZE WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY.

WHAT I BELIEVE THAT CAN HELP YOU IS THIS.  FIRST OF ALL NO DIET REALLY HELP YOU "KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF" FOR GOOD. YOU MUST MAKE LIFE STYLE CHANGES.  IF YOU WERE MY SON I WOULD FIRST HAVE YOU NOT DRINK ANY SODA OR ANY DRINK THAT CONTAINS SUGAR.  SUGAR HAS EMPTY CALORIES, MEANING THAT THE CALORIES OFFER NO NUTRITION TO YOUR BODY.  AT YOUR AGE YOU NEED ALL OF YOUR NUTRIENTS.  SUGAR TAKES NUTRIENTS FROM YOUR BODY (AWAY FROM YOUR TEETH, BONES, MUSCLES AND CELLS TO NAME FEW).  TRY A WEEK WITHOUT ANY SODA, JUICES OR GATORADES OR POWERADES (THEY ARE JUST SUGAR OR CORN SYRUP AND WATER).  YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW MUCH BETTER YOU WILL FEEL AND YOU SHOULD SEE A WEIGHT LOSS.

NEXT, AVOID ALL THOSE HIGH SALTY SNACKS.  EAT MORE PROTEIN SOUCES. I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF FOODS YOUR PARENTS PREPARE OR WHAT YOU HAVE AVAILABLE TO YOU FOR MEALS.  THE BEST YOU CAN DO IS READ THE LABLES OF THE FOODS AT YOUR HOME.  LOOK FOR THE FOODS WITH THE HIGH SUGAR (SORBITOL, FRUCTOSE, CORN SYRUP, SUCROSE AND THERE ARE MORE WEIRD NAMES FOR SUGAR) AND DON'T EAT THOSE.  DON'T EAT FOOD THAT IS FRIED OR BREADED THAT WILL GREATLY HELP YOU OUT.  I BELIEVE IN YOU!

O.K. Kid....my advise, keep watching the Dr.s as we learn each day from them:)  Also, it is important (I learned when my brothers were your age) to Always Check with your Dr. 1st and ask about a HIGH PROTEIN, Low Carb eating planNEVER go Under 100 grams of Carbs a day however as you will need it for energy & Brain Function.  You can rotate every 2-3 days as this will trick your metabolism into keep burning Fat for you.  Also, to include Weight Training as part of your workouts as Muscle Burns the Fat & you will be Toned without the sagging skin.  Also, Muscle requires Protein so aks your Dr. how many grams to take per bodyweight.  I always understood it to be 1 gram per 1 lb. of body weight.  Good Luck to you & please keep us posted.
