Anxiety so sorry it sounds like you are having a hard time. I do know it is hard to get off xanax. And I know depression can cause you to feel down and not get out. You should talk to your doc about how you are feeling and see what can be done to help you feel better.

Imogene--maybe just start exercising?  search on the inet for Matt Harding's Dancing video and just do it anytime in the house---I get up and watch the local college channel in the AM  yoga and follow PE Prof Melanie Schiele Gady at GRCC TV here in Grand Rapids MI...just do any exercise you can handle-daily--WALK around the house??

My son has Aspergers and won't go out of his room---but he takes 1 class at a local university, and goes to the Dr.s once in a while.

Think I'll try that stability ball thing while on this computer??? Try stretch exercise  on the floor while watch the Dr.s?  The Dr.s might get a new show with psychiatrists only--and we'll all make health insurance rates go up with  our psychomatic claims.  Just ideas...RB 2-13-9

I have had anxiety for over 14yrs now.I take meds also.In my case I will have to take meds for the rest of my life. It's inherited from my Father. But you need to talk to your doctor, but you need to talk to yourself. You need to make yourself get out of the house.I was house bound for 2yrs so I know what I am taking about. It's a struggle but take small steps. You know anxiety leads to depression.Your doctor may need to adjust your meds.Ask for help..

Take Care.

hi  I FEEL YOUR PAIN, THERE WAS A TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I FELT THAT WAY, I DID NOT WANT TO LIVE,

I REALLY WISH THE DOCTORS WOULD AT LEAST HAVE A SHOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM,I ALWAYS SAID RATHER

THEN GO THRU THAT  AGAIN I WOULD RATHER LOOSE A PART OF MY BODY, THAT IS HOW BAD THE MENTAL PAIN IS

I CANT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I WENT TO HOSPITALS THINKING I WAS GOING TO DIE,YOU LIVE IN FEAR OF

THE FEAR.THEY ARE ALL COMBINED (DEPRESSION/ANXIETY&PANIC ATTACKS) first you are depressed because

you are afraid then you get anxious because you know the feeling is uncontrollable/ then you go into the full blown panic attack!! I CAN TELL YOU IAM AN EXPERT ON THIS SICKNESS, THE PROBLEM IS IF YOU WERE IN AN ACCIDENT

YOU WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF RIGHT AWAY, OR A HEART ATTACK/ BUT WHEN YOU HAVE THIS ANXIETY PROBLEM

(which to me is worse then a heart attack or to be in an accident) at least you know how to take care of that ,but

something MENTAL ,THE DOCTORS JUST TELL YOU IT IS IN YOUR HEAD.  I HAVE BEEN THRU THE WORST OF THE WORST! UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN THRU THIS/YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND IT!!!  people just say oh you will be fine

but they have NO CLUE UNLESS THEY HAVE BEEN THERE. PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS I CAN ANSWER THEM FOR YOU I COULD GO ON & ON. JUST KNOW YOU ARE NOT ALONE//

                       I UNDERSTAND!!!

I know you can't go off of them suddenly. it can be dangerous. Talk to your doctor if those meds aren't helping you. ther are alot of meds out there and remember you have to take them 2-4 wks sometime to feel the effect.

I to have been dealing with Anxiety for the last 20 years.  I take Paxil cr and it works well for me.  Like you I would love to go off my medication but it seems every time I do my anxiety comes back WORSE.   With the Paxil cr I am able to go out of my house, its like I have most of my life back.  Understanding from others is hard to get.  Unless you have been there how can they actually understand?

I have tried many different ways to deal with my anxiety,  I find excercise and having good sleeping habits is the best you can do for yourself.  Limit caffine (coffee, tea, chocolate) and cold medications.   Talking about what you are going threw helps.  Even if people don't really understand, it does help to get it off your chest once in a while.

I would actually faint during some of my anxiety attacks, (which made my anxiety even worse) but one doctor set it straight for me.  he said "are you going to die? whats the worse that can happen to you, you will fall on the ground, thats it.  Get up and brush yourself off, you will not die from falling on the ground"  Believe it or not, that speach made me feel better.

I could type for hours about everything I have learned about anxiety, so if you would like to talk, add me as a friend.  I understand where your coming from.

Hold your head up, there are lots of us out there going threw the same thing.
