It's imperative that if he gets another spot that he go the doctor and have it swabbed to get rid of the infection completely.  It's very contagious and could really harm you.  All surfaces he has touched need to be wiped with bleach, all linens, counters, he shouldn't use the same razor blade, don't share towels with him, bleach the shower or bath.  Every time he gets a new infection you are more at risk, not to mention everybody else he comes into contact with.  Every door handle, every sink.  Once Staph takes hold of a person it's not easy to get rid of.  If he comes in to contact with a person with a weak immune system, they could die.  I'm not trying to sound gloom and doomy, but I have it again, there are only two medications right now standing between me a death, MRSA is becoming an epidemic because people think it's no big deal.  All of his abcesses need to be covered with non poreous bandaides, to protect you and others.  MRSA can get into the blood stream and is now causing pneumonia, and infecting heart valves (they know this from autopsy, about the heart valves) I don't know what harm it can cause to a fetus.  One round of anti biotics may keep him from getting it again, and may protect you and your baby.  Keep me posted, Michele

Hi Hughes,

I recently wrote a long blog about MRSA, which is a type of staph infection, I don't know if that's what your husband has or not.  If you go to "popular" under "Blogs" you will find all the information I have learned about MRSA since I have had it over and over again in the last 2 years.  You can also look at my profile to hear my life story. :0) Does your husband have a problem with his immune system?  It is extremely important that he takes all of the medications prescribed to him for staph, or it will keep coming back.  Last year 19,000 people died of MRSA in this country, more than from aides.  Also if you have a pet, the pet could be re-infecting your husband.  Especially since your pregnant it's very important you don't get it.  If I can be of any help to you or your husband, please don't hesistate to ask me anything.

Michele
