About Me

Am 61 years old. Ugh I'm getting old!  Enjoy especially theraputic horseback riding.  I am a diabetic with a neurological disorder similar to MS.  Been disabled since 1982.  Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 1993.   Been under a lot of stress. Will keep tryinng, to lose weight, though.  During the Christmas season, I'm off the diet.    I have 2 birds that live with me. 1 is a cockatiel named Hot Shot who is 20 years old.  I raised him from the time he was 10 days old.  He is in good health.  He loves to talk on the telephone.  He's liable to say "give me a cookie".  For a snack I do give him honey grahams, he loves those, also I use them if my sugar runs low at bedtime.  The other one is a spice Finch named Looking Glass.  He lost his mate a 2 years ago, was severely depressed, I thougt I was going to lose him too.  I went to the store and got him 2 mirrors so now he thinks he has another bird in there with him.  One is placed on the perch near his favorite spot, the other is placed by his food cup.  He's  7 years old and recovered immediately.    I showed a beautiful grey Paso Fino.  Riding that type of horse is compared to riding on the back of a bus to a stretch limo.  that horse was like riding a stretch limo!  This show is by invitation only.  I still ride on a bareback pad.  Update, I've been suffering with leg cramps at night for over 17 years.  I had an EMG done and it explained the leg cramps. NowI use tonic water with quinnine in it, so far it's working well.   Never married.  Oh well, it's probably best for me. Mom used to say to me "You're as stubborn as a jackass." LOL. I think she's right!  LOL ROFL My favorite lifestyle is country live. I love people who can share a sense of humor, it's the greatest medicine for anything!!!  Last year's surgery was a success, I still see the surgeon periodically, for check ups. The main thing I like about the theraputic riding is that I can go out there and make a lot of people laugh by my acting silly. Instructor says make a big circle to the left. I tell her I'd rather ago the the right and jump the fence! LOL from everyone watching! There are at least one volunteer for each rider in the class and a NAHRA Certified Instructor in the ring with us. Usually there are 3 or 4 riders in a class. I'm in a class for experienced riders. I've been horseback riding with this group for 10 or 11 years.

Wow - How nice to hear from you.  How have you been feeling?  Have you had an opportunity to ride lately?  I'm doing okay, had a rough summer with my son, he is doing good now.  Has a neurological disorder which we're working with his Neurologist with.  Other than that life has been good - no complaints.  Write back when you have a chance, look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Kathy,

I'm sneaking a moment from work here to write.  That is so neat that you're riding.  I know from my childhood and having grown up around horses that each has their own personality.  And it's funny how they tune into our feelings.  I had this one particular pony when I was growing up, and if I was in a bad mood, he'd be ready to pick a fight with me!  Just to show me that I should lighten up.  Cantankerous little turd that he was.......

Hey Kathy,

Wow it has been awhile!  Glad to hear you were able to ride.  That's great about the Hoyer Lift.  Does it allow for more people to ride?  You'd think it would make things easier for all concerned!  Happy to hear about any updates.  Take care and soon you'll be able to get over the fatigue!

Hello There..

Nice to hear from you, it sure has been a long time since we've written to each other.  Sorry to hear that you're not feeling so well, hope you feel better as each day goes by.  That is great that you had the opportunity to ride I'm sure you were super excited!!  :)    My son is doing much better, he is still going to Physical Therapy twice a week, he does however have an neurological issue with his right leg/foot that we are working with a Neurologist.  He is still very tired and weak but is back to school; they've made some accommodations for him which was so nice of them, they've been just great!  Other than that the family is all good.  Going to take my granddaughter to dance now so we'll talk again soon.

Hi Kathy,

Nice to hear from you.  I knew something was going on with you but I wasn't sure what.  I'm sorry to hear about all your medical issues your going through right now.  I'm glad to here that your Doctors are responding appropriately and trying to get to the bottom of it all.  I take Lyrica and find it most helpful.  I sure hope you feel better and I'll say some prayers for you and your also in my thoughts!  TALK SOON!

Hi,

Not sure if you're on line.  I just wanted to send a quick note to say Hi  :)   and to see how your doing?

Take Care

Hi:

I see you're a horse person.  My cousins are horse people.  They live in New Mexico.  I'm not really into horses kind of because I'm afraid of them.  They are so much bigger than I am.  I am 4'11".  I won't say how much I weigh.  The scales don't measure that high.  Anyway, I've got to get stuff out of the washer into the dryer and put another load into the washer, so I'm kind of busy.  I just wanted to say hi.

AWWW thank you for the lovely comment!!!  Pinkers is my Mother Hen... I have to make sure she stays well so she can keep me in pecking order.. lol  She is such a kind woman.  I would LOVE to live close enough to help any time she needed me.  She'd probably shoo me away for being "too" Motherly.  LOL

Again, thank you so much for the kind words.

Hello Kathy...

Not as tired today but am a bundle of nerves for some reason.  Tonight is the Rehearsal Dinner, just bought a blouse to wear.  My granddaughter is bouncing off the walls with excitement, she's driving my daughter crazy today.  I'll let you know how the wedding goes.  Have a great day.  Talk Soon!

Hi Kathy - Nice to hear fron you,

So glad your progressing well.  Your determination has certainly paid off.  My daughter's wedding is this coming Saturday.  I'm tired and having some anxiety for some reason, probably all the running around.  Just came back from shopping with my daughter, she needed to do some last minute things.  She is soo cute, she is calm as can be, I'm the one who is going crazy.  Have my dress, shoes and jewelry, thank goodness, was having trouble finding things I liked.  I don't have MS, however I think we talked about it in the past.  I was misdiagnosed back 8 years ago.  My Doctor treated me for 4 years as if I had MS, was on all kinds of different medications, in home nurse and all that.  It was a terrible thing to go through.  Come to find out I have a neurological disorder on the left side of my body, and a few other medical conditions.  For the most part under Medical Care I'm stable at the moment.  Take allot of medications, being treated at the Pain Management Clinic to maintain my condition and pain.  In February I started eating healthier and walking 1 mile a day, have lost 20.5 lbs and these make me feel somewhat better.  Still have my ups and downs, can't over do it because I pay for it for days to weeks, I'm trying to learn more about my body.  Now that I've written a book I'll end it for now.  Talk to you soon.  Have a nice day.
