Does it really go inactive? Can it bear its ugle head again? Is it something you have to worry about giving to someone else? Does it have to be active for someone to catch it?

All I know is that it is very contagious when you actively have it. Not sure about the inactive state.
Melissa.
I had it when I was a freshman, for 3 1/2 months. Yes it is contagious and yes you can get it again. I got it so bad it infected my liver, so any food that I could get ino me wasn't absorbed into my body. I went from 125lbs to 86lbs dripping wet. The effects last for several months after the Mono went away, I was always drained and had little energy. Couldn't take gym class and had to leave class 5 minutes early to get to my next class, so I had 10 minutes to walk inbetween classes. So that should give you an idea of how long lasting the effects can be, oh I had to do those things for the rest of my freshman year.
Has it ever reoccured since then? Do you have to worry about passing to anyone else now? I don't even know when my son got it. He has a very mild case since we didn't even know. He had blood test done and that is how we found out. Just not sure what he may have to deal with. Thanks for sharing your story. It had to be so difficult to be that sick!!
