I’m a young healthy 22 year old female with bad breath. Everyones instinct is to laugh because everyone has bad breath every now and then but i’m talking about all the time. I have excellent oral hygeine, I don’t eat foods that would make my breath have an offensive odor, I dont have dry mouth, I don’t have any other health conditions that would make bad breath a symptom, i just have constant bad breath. i asked my doctor and she simply said “hmmm i dont know.” I’ve done extensive research and have only come to dead end answers. As I said before I’m young, healthy, and attractive and people just cant figure out why I lack a social life and don’t have a boyfriend. how are you suppose to get close to anyone when you have this condition? Gum and mints and everyone over the counter mouthwash at the local drug store is only a temporary fix. I know I can’t be the only one out there that suffers with this and can’t find answers.

Thanks! It’s nice to know someone else cares and understands! It makes me feel less alone. I just hope we can find some our answer.

You might want to get your sinuses checked out. Most people don’t think that could be the problem, but you could have drainage you don’t know about.

The reason you have halitosis is due to not being able to digest the foods that you eat properly.

Most people eating bread, lassagana, Kraft dinner, cheese etc.. are having a difficult time processing these foods.

But
to be 100% sure, would you be able to provide me with a journal of all
you eat for the next 5 days and we’ll review what is going on and help
you out with it… I helped others with it, for some it was as simple
as decreasing the amount of yogourt they were eating, for some it’s
bread… so, let’s see how we can work together.

Halitosis is
basically the foods in your stomach are rottening rather than being
properly digested.. you’re having a little battle in your stomach…
that is my fun analigy… LOL

We’ll talk shortly and resolve the
issue, for each individual it’s a different thing, the solution
provided to you will not work for others, depends on your symptoms that
you have…. such as bloating, pain in you body, urine is yellow or
light or there are bubbles when you urine, your stool is constipated,
diarrhea, undigested food, it floats, it doesn’t float, it smells…
etc…

I do traditional chinese medicine… and i mainly work
with people living with chronic pain…. but i work with people that
have other issues, such a candida, meniere’s disease, vertigo,
fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety attacks and so on… Halitosis, bad
breath is an easy fix….

Sorry, I don’t mean fix,,, but we can
definitely look at it, it’s the food that you eat that is the cause of
the issue… you’re body is not processing it properly…

let’s go from there

i wrote into the newspaper where a doctor answers questions for the local readers. He suggested adding avacados to my diet. Boiling water with them and such. What is so special about avacadoes? I also wanted to point out that i didn’t begin having this problem until i hit puberty. could there be a link?thanx for ur suggestions.

well i usually eat about the same kinds of food everyday.

For breakfast i usually almost always have 2 cups of coffee and something sweet with it, like a piece of cake. For lunch i usually eat a ham or bologna sandwich with pretzels(salted) and a yougurt, with water or kool-aid. i rarely drink pop/soda. For dinner i have some type of meat, most of the time i eat chicken(i frequently have chicken), or steak. with it i have some type of potatoes(mashed, baked, or french fries)with ranch dressing and corn(corn is mainly the only vegetable i eat)

i like fruit but rarely eat it.i also have a sweet tooth. i can tell you i probably consume more sugar than most. The only symptom i seem to have that u listed above is frequent diarrhea. But some others in my family have that too but don’t suffer from bad breath so i never thought there was a link.I don’t have any other symptoms.

Hi, Carrie5088. The Doctors are going to touch on breath odor due to body disorders this week. Hmmm, this might be interesting. But, what if nothings wrong with any of those body organs they’re going to address. I hope they’ll direct the audience to professionals on oral health as well. I know they don’t have all the answers to every question, but my hope is that other professionals who are familiar this certain topic are watching and calling in with advice/direction. Or that the staff for the show are researching the topics thoroughly enough. Oh, by the way, your food list is very funny. I can see that you have a serious sweet tooth. I love dark chocolate, and will eat it until I just can’t swallow anymore. When I see the oral health professional in my city during my intake, I’ll let them know I also have a bigger agenda of helping others. When you call the 800-DENTIST they’ll ask you for zipcodes so that they can find a oral health prof. near you. If you don’t have an oral h.p. in your zipcode, maybe you can give them the name of a city near you, someplace bigger. Because I come from a small town myself, and everyone knows all your business. My family new I was going to have a baby almost before I did, because someone who worked in health care had the test results before I called in and asked about them for myself. I didn’t think that I was pregnant, so I kind of took my time calling in for pregnancy test reults. I was also in serious denial (lol). A lot of gossip goes on in small towns, and this may not be the type you want out there before you find the answer. But if it gets out, know that it’s NOT your fault, and you’re doing all you have in your power to do to get help. Keep your head held high and keep living your life no matter what!

Hi, Carrie5088. I didn’t notice one of comments where you’d asked me some questions about tasting my breath. Yes, I have those days. I don’t have those days everday, but when it gets bad I try to stay in the house. Isn’t that bad. I don’t feel like dealing with it. I have very good and straight teeth thanks to my mothers’ genes. I’m always complimented by my dentists of how excellent my teeth are. I’m thankful for that. I’ve had all my wisdom teeth pulled about 10 yrs ago, because of TMJ. My jaws were too tightly closed, it would be very difficult for me to clean them later in life they told me. I’ve had 2 cavities filled in my life. I go to the dentist about twice a year. I want to let you know don’t give up on the advice you’ve been given thusfar about freshening your breath, because in combination these things may help. Eat a good diet, gargle with the herbs but don’t stop gargling with your regular mouthwash. I use poroxide to gargle with then I gargle with my regular mouthwash. You might already know this, but never gargle with alchohol-based mouthwash. Check with a dentist to see if you have an infection in your mouth from the braces being taken out or teeth being pulled or teeth needing to be pulled and gums cleaned out. Try to stay away from sugars, because it promotes bacterial growth. Oh, Carrie, I am a girl (smile).

Hey, Carrie5088. Good, keep livin the life. I don’t talk to anyone either up close. If I do, I try not to open my mouth very much and suck air in when I talk. I always try to stand at least 3 to 5 feet away from the person and blame it on “I just have anxiety issues, I’m clostraphobic. Sorry about that.” And it’s true, because it’s a creation of my body issues. Someone try to talk to me this morning at my son’s swim class. They came right up next to me, I looked at them as if they were crazy (I’m laughing as I type this). They asked me was I his mother, and I said yes. She then asked me if he once went to a certain grade school. And I said, ‘Yes, but he goes to another grade school now.’ She then started talking about how she helps teach at the school and how she recognized him, etc., and I just stood there silently and hoped that she didn’t smell anything because she was soooo close (Laughing)! I turned away from her slightly to give a little hint that I was uncomfortable. I try so hard not to hurt peoples feelings so that they don’t hurt mine, but it’s a hard job (laughing still). She walked away, because when I turned back she was gone w/o a word. Oh, Well! It’s goin to get better some how. When you have kids, it’s a lot of social activities dangit. There’s PTA meetings and Parent Teacher night, parents night, plays, graduation from preschool, grade school and so on, and other outings, the kids overnight stays and having to meet there friends and their friends parents. There’s no place to hide when you’re trying to be a good parent. There’s camps, skating and sporting events, ughhh. I’m tired from just going to all these things and trying to stay undercover. I’m sure I would have a whole lot of fun if I wasn’t so concerned about my breath. So, I know absolutely what you are going through. Don’t worry someone else will come along, you have plenty of time. Guys will always flirt believe me, I’m 42-yrs-old and have all ages flirt, but I walk away fast. I’m so busy I don’t want a relationship right now. There’s will always be time for that as long as you’re living well. I know you might get lonely, I remember being single and living by myself and the walls in my apartment closing in on me and my loneliness. But kids erased all of that. There’s never a dull moment. Sometimes I wished there were.

thats funny cuz i laugh too as i type because this s*** is so ridiculous. excuse my language. i think its because i’ve never talked to anyone beside my one doctor about it and actually telling people is weird. i only ever dealt with this problem in my head, debated about what i should do because it seems no one else has it and its too embarrasing to dicuss with someone who has no idea. I’m glad we started an open conversation about it. i’m surprised more people havent commented because a lot of people are viewing our messages. I’m curious if i would get my tonsils removed if that would make a difference.

Yep,it has been a little therapeutic for me too. I wonder about the tonsil thing too, just clean out that whole cotton cabootal area!

Hi all,  I have suffered from this all my life also.  I remember being in grade school when a boy turned around and said “your breath stinks”  That has affected me all my life, it was catastophic for me.  I brushed and flossed and gargled and tried marketed items to no avail.  Then got the dumb idea of smoking to cover it up.  Well dumb indeed as now in my 50’s (don’t feel it tho lol) I am addicted to nicotine and struggle to quit.  I have even gone so far as to believe it was my teeth which were never really good so I had them all pulled and now have dentures and still bad breath.  If anyone finds a cure PLEASE let me know.

Carrie (funny we have the same name but spelled different) I understand what your going thru as I do the same things exactly ,  ie: suck in when talking, distance, mints, all that.

This is so depressing. i thought i was gonna come on here and find a cure and it looks like the opposite. everyone is just as clueless as i am. loner1 keep in touch. Even if we dont kjnow whats going on its nice to have someone to talk to on bad days when i just hate myself for being like this. Sometimes at night i lay there and think, " i cant believe i have this problem.i cant believe it" Its just sux so bad ppl have no idea. Its like ppl dont feel sympathy for you, they just laugh but the more ppl we get to talk about it the better i guess

HI,  tried to reply to you Carrie but being on dialup it just hung there so I am posting here

I don’t have any friends either, and my family knows I think since I
have been there and fixed their computers and they are standing right
behind me and I can smell myself.  Its soooooo embarrasing.  PPL really
have no clue what we go thru or how we feel.  The sad part is they
really never get to know the real you as this problem dictates how we
interact with them instead of just being natural.  I hate it.  I did
brush today with a runny paste fof baking soda and water and I think it
made a difference, but without someone to actually tell you its hard to
know.  But I noticed it was gone ( it seems)  then I filled glass with
water so I could gargel with it.  Salty as hell but it had an effect I
think. Positive one for sure.  try it and let me know.

I was just reading your post and it really caught me there,Im a 21 year old male and ive been suffering from that all my life and everything you wrote is exactly like how i’ve been doing,i have a good oral hygeine and i eat normal food and dont smoke and ive tryed alot of products and still nothing,i know how it feels that it really effects your social life, im always afraid to get close to people when i talk to them even the ones that are close to me and now i almost have no social life at all, I have to keep a stock of mints everywhere i go and i freak out if i dont find any with me. People usualy makes fun of this but they have no idea how its like to suffer from this everyday. Its so frustrating that such a non serious disease can really ruin our daily life.
