Excessive Sweating
Millions of sweat glands in the human body work in unison to keep us cool. However, sometimes those glands get a little too active, and the result is hyperhydrosis, excessive sweating.

Dr. Travis suggests several home remedies to counter the offending odor that often accompanies sweat: soak the offending body parts in a mixture of equal parts baking soda and corn starch; soak in tea infused with mint, sage or rosemary. For those with a severe sweating problem, doctors can inject Botox into the trouble spots.

I think they mentioned mint, sage and rosemary.

i wondered why my excessive sweating and feeling hot was diminishing. i had begun a week and a half ago drinking green tea at work instaed of coffee and pop and water. i guess it has the same elements in it as the mint, sage or rosemary, it’s working and suprising me. this affliction started after surgery 3 yrs. ago and tests were all negative. relief now!! thanks for covering this subject!! dave in alberta canada. yes, it gets hot up here too

I sweat like no ones business….my arm pits will literally just drip, drip, drip!! It is SOOOO embarrasing and gross!! I dont smell tho, thats a plus. I have tried using about 7 different deoderants, lotions, clinical strength, etc…I want to have the glands under my rm-pits taken out. I drip sweat when im not even hot!! I sweat intensively when i am hot or when im nervous or anxious. Its weird, and makes me very uncomfortable. I have to wear tank tops even in the winter so i wont have huge wet prints or stains on my t-shirt arm pits. what can i do???

I have a family member with the same issue as you although I’m not sure it’s quite so bad. She gets it under her arms and under her breasts. She uses cotton hankies. They are easy to fold up and put under your breasts inside your bra to hold them there. They might be helpful under your arms as well. I’m not sure but it’s an idea!!

Thanx ladygenesis….I dont sweat at all under my breasts, tho that would be a great idea to absorb the sweat but theres no way to keep the hankie in place under my arm pits??? Ive even gone as far as using those huge bandaides but they just fall off when they get to wet. If you ever hear of anything else or if your family member does, PLEASE let me know!! :) thanx

Sweating? I could write a book! I am NOW going through menopause, which makes it even worse because of the hot flashes. But for the past 15 years or so, I could feel it coming on like a heat wave. My face gets red, and all of a sudden I am soaked from head toe. Even my hair-I literally look like I went swimming! I quit wearing sweaters or anything long sleeved. I put makeup on lightly and at last minute. Same with getting dressed. I put clothes on almost at my front door, if I get dressed too early, by the time I am ready to go somewhere, I might as well change clothes again. IT sucks.

Sweating in my family is a BIG deal. Out of the 5 children, 3 (myself included) sweat like no tommorrow. Luckily none of smell. At the age of nineteen, I have been dealing with exessive sweating for close to 10 years, and it does not seem to be getting any better, it actually maybe getting worse. My older sister has tried just about every home remedy and nothing worked. About 8 years ago she had the Botox procedure done in her hands, because they are her tigger spots. It did not completly get rid of her sweating, but it did reduce its intensity by about 30%. Unfortunately, it only lasts about 6 months.
For some reason, I seem to sweat more so in the winter time than in the summer. And living in Canada, once i leave the house when im sweating i FREEZE. Sometimes its soo bad that my lips turn blue. Its like taking a shawer outdoors in -30 weather.
If your hands are you body sweat trigger (like myself), i have noticed that when I feel like i am going to start sweating, I immediately put on a pair of fleece gloves (winter or summer) and this reduces the sweat for me.
I am just happy that more and more people have been openly talking about this condition of hyperhydrosis.

I have a bad sweating problem. If I’m just sitting in my room, with a light shirt and shorts on, my underarms will start to sweat really bad. My room’s cool, my underarms are clean, and I always have deoderant on. But I can’t seem to find anything to help me with my sweating issue. Can you please help me try and solve this?

Dear Doctors,
I love your show, watch whenever I’m home. I would like you to address my sweating problem. When I was younger I had a problem with underarm excessive sweating. I am a 61 year old female. My problem is now my sweating has moved from underarm to vaginal area. What can I use there to stop sweating problems. Anytthing safe?

Hi my name is Jessica, I’m 20 yrs old and I suffer from the hyperhydrosis. I have had it since I was 15 yrs old. I am in serious need of plastic surgery to fix some of my problems. This problem as my doctors have told me is not curable. This drives me crazy and hurts all the time. I have what they call boils all over several parts of my body mainly under my arms and in my groin area. It has an nasty smell to it and certain ones of the boils leak a milkly color fluid. I’ve taken several different medications to help it and I haven’t found anything to help…if anyone has any information on how to help me out with this please let me know… shortstuff_182007@hotmail.com or on here!!!

Thanks alot!!!!

I am 16 years old and i noticed my sweating problem when i was about 12, when i started puburity. I can’t wear t-shirts because my sweating problem happens in my armpits. I’ve done everything, deordants and anti-perspants dont work for me, tried the prescription clincial strength and the ones that you buy at the store and it still doesn’t work. Now i have to resort to the botox but it is way too expensive. So i am going to try the what dr.travis said to help…baking soda/cornstarch, and the tea. Hopefully that helps and whoever else out there that has this problem. stay strong and dont let this bring you down.

I am 22 years old and I’ve had a sweating problem for a looooong time. I have sweaty palms and feet; I find it to be EXTREMELY embarassing when I have job interviews and I have to shake hands and even when I’m around friends. I went to my doctor and she perscribed a medication call “Drysol.”  This medtication doesn’t quite work and I’m just so frsutrated its like this excessive sweating will never go away or at least decrease. Does anyone know of anything that I can do that mite help me. :) Thank you

Hey guys, if you are truly bothered by sweat, you need to visit the
International Hyperhidrosis Society and get the full download on all
your treatment options (safty, risks, costs, etc) plus check out the
study posted in the REASEARCH section for free treatment of underarm
excessive sweating (if you qualify). Their web site is
www.SweatHelp.org . They are an independent, non-profit group and have
the best dermatologists in the world on the Board. They also have an
amazing newsletter that goes out every other month with great updates
on research and everything to do with excessive sweating. I’ve been a
member since they started in 2003 and give them my full support. Good
luck!

Hey everyone. I also had the same problem with excessive sweating. I tried so many different lotions and my doctor wouldn’t prescribe anything to me. I used to wear black clothes all the time, or dressed in layers to cover up the sweat. One day when I went to the doctor, my usual doctor wasn’t there and I asked her about my problem. She prescribed Drysol Extra Strong. It has a Dab-On applicator. You put it on at night and wash it off in the morning. You will see results after two applications. After that, you apply it every second day and then every week and so on. I think it is a lot better than getting Botox injections, mostly because of how much they probably cost.
