I have a 13 year old domestic short hair cat. I have had her for her entire life and I have noticed a change in the last 6 months.

I moved out of my moms place into an appartment with my boyfriend about 7 months ago, and brought my cat about a month later. I know that animals do get stressed with change, but the changes I have noticed are a bit worrying.

First of all, I have had to buy 5 different types of wet food for her. She ate one kind for about a year at my moms place, but since she came to live with me she won’t eat it any more. So I buy a differnt kind, she will eat it for about 2 weeks to a month. Then she just won’t eat it, So i will buy a different kind.

Second, at my moms place she got fed once a day and always had a full bowl of dry food. At my place she also, always has a full bowl of dry food, but now she gets fed twice a day with wet food. She gets fed at 9PM every night when we are home, if not when we get home from work, but still crys for food at about 7PM. And she gets more wet food when we get up in the morning, usually about 7AM. But yet she will start crying at about 5 or 6 in the morning.

Third, she will bite and growl when we rub her tummy or pet her side after she eats. She gets very grouchy after eating. She is a very cuddley cat and had never been a grouch or an angery cat.

Lastly, she has become very lathargic and really out of it. She is usually very hyper and loves to play with her toys or “talk” to me. She is not always like this but it is a common thing now.

I really don’t know what is going on with her. and this is really scaring me.
Can any one tell me why she is acting like this or give me advice on what to do to help her

We had this similar problem with our dog I realize 2 diffeent species but still. she would batk at us for food so we’d give her more food then she would growl when you went near her belly. Well one day she was just lying there barely moving. Scott called the vet and he brought her right in . Well it was a good thing we brought her. I dont want to scare you because I know nothing of animals but They told us she has a tumor around her abdominal aorta area. but this was well over alomst 2 yrs ago and she is still with us. THANKS GOD> So bring the cat to the vet.

Hopefully it might just be a change in food pattern or change in living arrangemnts too. bbettre safe than sorry.

It is always good to get an animal checked out if something is out of the norm. It may just be a coincidence that this happened during the time you moved.
