Should your dog (or cat) be tested for cancer if she lives inside with longtime smokers; especially if she has a dry hacking cough?

The dog should be checked out in anycase. The thing is: second-hand smoke causes cancer in people,why not animals?

you ’d be suprised how prominant cancer is in dogs we have had 3 dogs so far .Tasha “lovebug” she had cancer in her jaw she was a rottie we had to let her go at only 4 yrs of age. Hailey “Sweet Pea” we adopted her from a shelter she was found roaming the streets and we saw her on tv we wnet that same day and adopted her. unknown age at time of adoption maybe 4. We had to say our good byes to her this past March she had cancer in her lungs stomach and a tumor in her neck. it spread rapidly. Roxy our presentt day dog.“Baby Girl” She has it also but has lived with it for the past almost 2 yrs and still acts like a puppy sometimes. We also adopted her from a shelter when Tasha passed. . They become part of the family. We love her and loved our other dogs as well but the best thing is get themn checked out whenever you think something is wrong DON"T WAIT !!

I have heard of dogs having cancer.. that is really strange, lisabethk that you had three dogs that had cancer, wow!  I guess I just didn’t think it would be that common..

I have a 13 yr old dog that developed a dry, hacking cough. After a radologist read his x-rays we found he had asthma. My husband has always smoked in the house-not any more. He’s on medication and doing great. So there are other effects, than cancer, from second hand smoke.
