I have come across a theory that the use of Ultrasound during pregnancy may be a cause for Autsim. Most that I have read discusses improper use of Ultrasound and/or conditions of equipment, as well as the use of three and four dimensional imaging Ultrasound machines and how they have not been properly investigated as to their effects on the developing fetus.
It made me wonder, as my family doctor as a child was quite old fashioned and questioned the high pitched frequency of Ultrasound. He was concerned with the unknown effect it has on the body of the unborn child. I would wonder myself, whether or not the directed heat to the child through Ultrasound would be a similar danger to a fetus as sauna’s and increased body temperature of their mother? It seems as though most doctors recommend very limited time with ultrasound, but how many parents are pushing for extra time to “see” the baby in utero or know it’s sex?
If I was a parent concerned about my unborn child developing Austim, I may research this, and also question my doctor as to the benefits of Ultrasound on a low-risk pregnancy.
