This is nothing but a modified version of the BBQ sauce recipe in the 17 Day Diet book. But I am a southern boy, who LOVES my BBQ on my grill, or Smoker. So, I like my pit cooked taste. So I could not stand the original recipe, and HAD to doctor it up.
Original Recipe has to be used as a starting base:
3/4 cup reduced sugar ketchup
2 tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce
1 TBSP of Agave nectar
1 teaspoon of Chilli Powder
Apple Cider vinigar (to taste)
Mustard to taste
If you like it spicier, some Mrs. Dash Southwest Chipolte to taste
Cayenne pepper to taste
This is my finishing sauce, or if we do the meat in the oven. If on the smoker, or grill, I make an additional baste.
In a small sauce pan, mix the following:
4 TBSP of Olive Oil
add 1/4 to 1/3 cup Apple Cider Vin.
1 TBSP Agave nectar
seasonings of your liking, to taste ( I like Chipotle, crushed red pepper, and a lil Tony Chashere)
1/4 cup Italian Dressing. FF is fine, but I am sorry, this is one I cant skimp on, since it is only flavoring, and not gonna affect the meat much, I use normal Italian Dressing.
Bring this to a boil, and stir. Then use to bast the meat, while in smoker or on grill.
I bast often, and it is great on any meat. Once it is close to finished, I will put one final coating of the BBQ from above, let cook a few min, then flip, and coat. Then serve.
