My name is Alicia Hernandez and I am 22 years old. I have recently been
told that I have low estrogen.(My levels are 50)I’m not sure how bad that is. This diagnosis comes after two years of
problems. I have extremely painful sex(so bad I can not have sex with
my husband), fatigue, mood swings, hot flashes, extreme sweating, and irregular periods when I am not on my birth control. I will not be able to see a gynecologist till October 2nd. My question is that I have heard a lot of good
things about hormone replacement therapies and a lot of bad things. Should I try to go a more natural way and what would that be, or would I have to do the actual therapy
because of the symptoms I have. Also I was wandering should I be
worried that I am so young an am already having problems with my estrogen levels? I still want to have children soon and am scared that I am going to hear that I am starting to go through menopause.

Alicia,
I am 22 years old also and have extremely low estrogen levels. This is a result of a pituitary tumor i had recently. After surgery, my levels have got even lower. I now have to go on some sort of hormone replacement therapy to reverse menopause. I understand what you are going through! I too am having the hot flashes, fatigue, mood swings, and dry skin. I haven’t had a period in months and I actually got an eye infection from the dryness. Low estrogen causes infertility which can be fixed with hormone replacements. If you want to have kids, i suggest going on them. I am about to start them as well. There are going to be risks with any type of drug you take; you just need to talk it over with your doctor. With the way i’m feeling right now, I can’t wait to get on something to stop these hot flashes! I’m curious- did they do any other testing to figure out why your estrogen levels were so low? Normally, they would do more blood work to figure out if your thyroid or pituitary are functioning properly. You are not alone! Let me know how things are going! Wish you the best!
