OK, I’m posting this even though I look like an idiot!  ;)

I really liked the part of today’s show about the genetic testing and how it’s like a crystal ball to your health. But I couldn’t find information about the testing service on The Doctors web site. I finally figured it out. Here’s a link to them: http://www.navigenics.com/visitor/what_we_offer…

HTH.

I thought that segment on genetic testing was poorly produced. Why should I care about their (stork, orden and sears) genetics.

Instead the segment could have explained more about genetic testing, direct to consumer genetic testing that anyone can do without a doctor. (Some states (CA and NY) have banned this type of direct to consumer genetic testing.)

There was no info on this new area of health testing.

But we know that stork is looking at the possiblilty of type 2 diabetes, sears colon cancer and orden AMD. But we don’t know what other diseases or serious health problems would be indicated as part of this testing. I think people would be more interested in knowing what diseases they could be tested for instead of knowing about those three and how they apply to the hosts.

It seems to me the segment was not about educating the audience but educating the hosts about their genetics.

There was a opportunity to educate the audience on how this testing can help parents with young children who may or may not have physical or behavior problems and adults who want to avoid the deadly diseases we all have as part of our gene expression.

There are more than a dozen companies that do this and the price can range from a couple of hundred dollars to about a thousand for testing and some type of treatment (supplements and foods to avoid and an optimal type of diet).

Providing a link from the company that did the test is passively educating the audience.
