17 Day Diet - Orange Roughy recipe

I went grocery shopping last night and can't believe how much my grocery bill will be on this diet.  Yikes.  I think I quadrupled my budget.  Uh, oh.  No wonder so many people are overweight.  It costs so much more to eat healthy.  But then, it costs a fortune to be sick too.

I was mainly in search of fish, ground turkey, and more vegetables.  The fish I tried a few days ago for lunch was the Gorton's grilled fillets.  They will be good to keep on hand for something to eat in a hurry when I don't have anything ready.

I really wish I could get frozen fish fillets from Wal-Mart that aren't from CHINA!  I'm sorry, but I just don't trust food coming from there.  So Price Cutter has a list of where their fish comes from which makes me feel a lot better even if it is more expensive.

Anyway.  I don't normally eat fish but last night I bought a nice Orange Roughy fillet.  So I went online in search of a recipe and found this:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6ZM4ZKTfq4&NR=1

Excellent! I used a small bit of Parmesan cheese plus Panko bread crumbs in the flour and had this with steamed broccoli with lemon and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.  Despite the $10.99 per pound price tag -- this piece of fish was about $4.00 -- this is an excellent fish that I will buy again.

Enjoy!

Hi I just friended you! That dinner sure looks good! I just had a bowl of canned yuk soup at 10 15 pm. Thats part of my problem. I have been buying the large bags of frozen talapia and salmon from God knows where. It comes to under $4 a pound. It is clean and portioned at 4oz a vacum packed pouch. Great to take out right at dinner time. Thaws in warm water. And if you don't eat it it stays til next day. The fish we buy at fish stores and supermarket were all frozen or soaking in brine. That is how they buy it a the large fish markets. Unless they fillet from a whole fish, chances are you are not getting fresh fish. $10.99 is a rediculous price to pay but as you said it is only $4 a serving. Less than a Whoper with cheese! You might as well get fish from China. We should avoid eatting fish from USA these days LOL I haven't got my book yet. I'll let you know how I'm doing. Think I will have my blood drawn to see the improvements ! Nite

Can we use flour and Panko in the first 17 days?  If we can, that would help me a lot.  I didn't think that that was allowed, though.  It does look good!!

@mistif Probably not.  But it is such a miniscule amount that sticks to the fish and if it helps me eat fish ...

I ate tilapia for the first time last night... I am NO FAN of fish, but it was ok..I could choke it down ;)  Bought a bag of it from Target in the frozen section...didn't read where it's from.  Now I will check that!! Just looked in my freezer...China!  Will have to do some research about their fish production.
