hi drahme! i read ur comment about excessive sweating, and i too have the same problem. i'm 24yo and have had the problem for almost 10years now. when i was younger it used to just be my hands that were the problem area, and then as the years went, i noticed my feet got affected too. then my underarms caught up, but luckily i tried using this thing u can buy over the counter called drysol? and after using it for like 2-3 months, it sort of managed to "fix" the problem. now i dont sweat in my underarms as much as i did before. ur prolly thinking, why dint i use it on my hands and feet then? well i did, but it just felt insanely difficult. it felt extremely uncomfortable because at first my hands became really dry, when i was relaxed, but the second i felt a trigger, my hands would start to sweat, and then it would just feel like alcohol on dry wound. it also felt like something was holding u back? like u couldnt breathe? its weird to personify your hands as a, well, person, but that's how uncomfy it was for me so i stopped using it on my hands.
anyways have u considered taking the procedure? i brought it up with my parents a few years back, but they weren't supportive of it because it wasn't popular and anything could go wrong. also that u had to collapse the lung first before doing the surgery which totally freaked them out. anyway, i'm glad that there's this forum. i don't know alotta people who face this problem. but it's definitely been a big big problem for me. it has affected my life in so many ways. i can't help but feel sympathetic towards your situation esp at how you freeze when u step out of the house? im from south east asia where the word COLD or FREEZING is something that doesn't exist in our vocabulary hehe, n so u can imagine how much more hyped my senses are because it's tropical and warm here. hope to hear from you, and goodluck with your studies! -mara

Hey tjeers,
I'd would like to be friends with you too. Its good to find other like yourself eh. Even though sometimes when I'm rushing home to shawer and change in the middle of the day, I still think I'm the ONLY one. LOL. There is little out there that can be done as a permenant fix. I have however read up on this one treatment where they clip a nerve located between the 4 and 5th rib, (i think it was between those 2 ribs) and it is supposed to stop sweating in your underarms, about 90% in your hands and feets as well. In Canada, I was only able to find one or two doctors that did this procedure. It is somewhat invasive surgery, in that a minor incision has to be made on each side, and has been performed on children as young as 11 years old who suffer from hyperhydrosis. I am not really sure if I want to do this procedure. There are some minor sideaffects, but i fear that sometimes if you stop sweating in one place, it may increase the sweating elsewhere. Thats something to think about!!

Hi D...glad that you were open to share your families issues with sweating!! Yes, it is so horrible, but like you i as well am glad others talk about this too!! Its by far not a glamerous issue and i want it to end...i HATE it. I have thot about Botox, but yea, its a limited fix and i want a permenant fix!! I'd like to become friends with you. I seem to sweat more in the winter than in the summer too but im not sure what my trigger is, i dont think its my hands tho. ttys tjeers
