I've worked in management, primarily in real estate, and in the legal field for most of my life.  I am not diabetic but both of my adult children are.  I believe it is due to their diet choice.  They know what they should eat but I'm sure they are not.  My mother had a heart and lung condition when she died, mostly caused by heavy smoking.  I quit smoking 4 years ago and I eat the right foods and very little bread.  My brother has a heart condition and had open heart surgery for a quad bypass this year.  I only have angina as far as I know.  I am probably about 12 pounds overweight and I have had 3 stomach surgeries for ulcers, gall bladder removed, and complete hystorectomy.  I also have one kidney that only functions at 20% due to a blockage that is to be cleared the end of this monty by Laparosopic Pyeloplasty.  I still have occasional stomach ulcers but milder.  I remarried 5 years ago after being a widow for 20 years (and enjoying life fully).  I am concerned about possible future heart problems due to my family history.  My grandmother died at 96 after falling in the shower on a bar of soap and the other women in my family lived to be at least in late 80's.
